Samir Nasri has told Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger he will stay at the club for at least next season, according to Guillm Balague.

Nasri has been subject to intense speculation about his future this summer after he refused to sign a contract extension. Man City and Man Utd were both interested in the midfielder with a fee of £20m mooted. However, Arsene Wenger ruled out selling to a rival club and maintained Nasri would be forced to see out the remaining year on his contract despite the risk of losing a prized asset for nothing in a years time.

Reports resurfaced last week suggesting Nasri could still make a move this summer with some of Arsenal’s hierarchy looking to over-rule Wenger and accept City’s £20m offer. However, according to Balague, Nasri has now told Wenger he is happy to remain in North London for the coming season, and the Spanish journalist even suggested Nasri could be persuaded to sign a new contract if the Gunners have a good start to the season and a strong run in the Champions League.

Arsène Wenger wants Ryo Miyaichi to stay at Arsenal this season and will push for the work permit the Japanese winger requires to play in England.

The 18-year-old arrived in January and spent last season on loan at Feyenoord in order to help his adjustment to European football while awaiting the clearance needed to play for his mother club.


Miyaichi linked up with Wenger’s squad at the start of the summer and has impressed during pre-season though he was not allowed to play in the Emirates Cup because it was a FIFA sanctioned tournament.


But Wenger has seen enough to convince him that the teenager is ready for the first-team this season and will seek to make that happen.


“My plan is to get a work permit for him and to put him on the pitch for Arsenal Football Club,” he said.

The father and agent of Valencia’s Juan Mata has revealed that Arsenal have had a bid for the winger rebuffed by the Spanish outfit.

The 23-year-old was part of Spain's World Cup-winning squad in 2010 and was one of the stand-out players at this summer’s Under-21 European Championship.

The likes of Inter, Tottenham and the Gunners have been linked with a move for the midfielder this summer, and Juan Manuel Mata Rodriguez, the player's father, has now claimed that Arsene Wenger's side have had an initial offer rejected.

He told calciomercato.com: "Valencia simply rejected their offer. After some hesitation they answered ‘no’ to the Gunners’ offer.

"So my son remains a Valencia player, for now. But I don’t think it’s their last offer."

Goal.com exclusively revealed on Saturday that Mata would not be interested in a move to Arsenal's north London rivals Tottenham, although the player's father has admitted that Inter could be an option.

He added: "There are several offers for Mata and I think that Arsenal will come forward again. The situation is still evolving.

"Are Inter Milan one of the interested teams? I know my son holds Milan in high esteem. We’ll see if Inter will come forward directly."
