Dagenham & Redbridge have signed James Shea on a season long loan, following the news that Daggers legend Tony Roberts has retired. Roberts will now become Arsenal’s full time Reserve goalkeeper coach.

Shea linked up with the League Two outfit last week, and played 90 minutes of their friendly against Leyton Orient. The 20-year-old has now agreed terms on a loan move, and is on the bench for Dagenham’s clash with West Ham tonight.

James was recommended to manager John Still by Roberts, after the 41-year-old decided to call time on a professional career in which he made almost 600 professional appearances. Tony will now become Arsenal’s full time goalkeeper coach, working mainly with the Reserves and Under 18′s. This is a role he has held for a number of years, in tandem with his playing duties.

Shea is expected to be Dagenham’s first choice for the forthcoming season, as they look to win promotion back to League One.

Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin believes that Sir Alex Ferguson is the main reason behind Manchester United's continued success in all competitions.

Ferguson is in his 25th year as manager of the Red Devils, having just won his 12th Premier League title to overtake Liverpool's overall haul of 18 with the club's 19th top-flight trophy.

The Scot shows no sign of calling it a day despite having become the most decorated manager in the club's history, and appears to be building another strong side with the additions of David de Gea, Ashley Young and Phil Jones.

Arshavin has yet to taste any success with the Gunners since joining from Zenit St Petersburg in 2009, with United taking home two league titles since his arrival.

The Russian, who has been linked with a move away this summer and is reported to be a target for Galatasaray, told Sport-Express: "First of all you have to ask Alex Ferguson about the secret of the victories.

"I think Manchester United have everything (to win) for 20 years - the players' quality, the team spirit and the psychology of winning.

"In the team one can discover the mixture of young and seasoned players and also Alex Ferguson's strictness in how he builds his team as he thinks it's important."

arcelona midfielder Xavi has issued another plea to Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas to make his move to the club this summer.

The 24-year-old has been constantly linked with a switch to the Primera Liga and UEFA Champions League holders over the past year, often being cited as the direct heir to Barca's inspirational playmaker, who is 31.

Xavi angered Gunners boss Arsene Wenger with his comments recently by stating that Fabregas was "suffering" due to being told to stay where he was.

Barca have yet to meet Arsenal's £40million asking price for the player and Wenger is keen to keep hold of his star player.
Puzzle piece

Xavi again emphasised the ability his international counterpart possesses, and made his point by claiming Fabregas was "a piece of the puzzle" and was ready to replace him as the focal point in midfield.

"I hope the saga ends," Xavi told German newspaper Suddeutschzeitung.

"Cesc is only 24 and his arrival would ensure the current cycle of Barca continues to work.

"I'm 31 and will retire in two, three or four years.

"I hope he comes."
