В пятницу вечером молодые "канониры" начали серию предсезонных матчей, обыграв со счетом 3-0 клуб "Вокинг". Победу "канонирам" принесли голы Чукса Анеке и Джэя Эммануэля Томаса, а также автогол.

Команда Нила Бэнфилда контролировала ход матча от начала и до конца, и добилась уверенной победы.

Roberto Mancini does not know why Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is upset with him over comments he made about trying to sign Samir Nasri.

The Manchester City boss said on Saturday that he was interested in signing Nasri and Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero this summer, while he also suggested that he wanted to make the breakthrough on the transfer front before the end of July.
That prompted an angry response from Wenger, who said Mancini had broken the 'basic rules of football' by discussing another club's player. But a bemused Mancini hit back to defend what he had said.
"I said only that Nasri, (Sergio) Aguero are two good players and I said also that Nasri is under contract with Arsenal," he said. "I don't know why he's upset, but only this.
"Because the question was about some good players, I say that like this. I said also that Nasri is under contract with Arsenal, it's difficult. Only this."
Meanwhile, Mancini is set to hold talks with Carlos Tevez about his future at City after his penalty shoot-out miss resulted in Argentina's exit from the Copa America quarter-finals at the hands of Uruguay on Saturday evening.
The striker is looking to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer and City are pondering over an improved £40million bid from Brazilian side Corinthians for his signature.

Arsenal have reached an agreement which will see highly-rated Costa Rica international Joel Campbell join the club.

It is understood that the Gunners will part with a fee of just under £1million for the 19-year-old forward.

Campbell has made just three senior appearances for Deporivo Saprissa, one of Costa Rica's top clubs, but has already caught the eye of many European scouts.

His potential is clear for all to see and he was included in his country's squad for the 2011 Copa America.

He scored his first international goal in a 5-0 victory over Cuba at the Gold Cup and followed that up with an assist in a 2-0 victory over Bolivia at the Copa America.

Campbell was unable to prevent Costa Rica from slipping out of that tournament at the group stage, but he left Argentina with his head held high.

Arsenal have moved quickly to see off the competition for his signature and have a $1.5million (£930,000) deal in place.

Juan Carlos Rojas, president of Deporivo, confirmed the agreement to DNA Radio and said the transfer would be 'very beneficial to both Campbell and Costa Rican football'.

The youngster is set to take part in the U20 World Cup later this month, giving him another opportunity to impress.

It is expected that Arsenal will then send him out on loan as he has not played in 75 per cent of Costa Rica's games.

He is, however, considered to be an exciting prospect for the future and Arsenal have seen off interest from Italy and Spain in securing his services.

A Premier League rival has bettered Arsenal’s offer for Saprissa striker Joel Campbell, the players father has confirmed.

Arsenal agreed a fee and then terms on a five-year-contract last night, but the unknown English club moved this afternoon to offer Campbell a better package. The players father, Humberto, confirmed the news to La Nation, and says the family will meet tonight to decide on the next move.

“We got another very good offer from one of the great English teams, which is just as interesting in sporting terms to Arsenal, but also more economically.”

“I will meet now with my wife and together we will make the decision whether to sign with Arsenal, the other club, or wait for something else.”

Sparissa chairman Juan Carlos Rojas revealed last night that everything has been agreed with them, and that the only remaining detail was when Campbell would sign the contract.

Joel was absent from training with the Costa Rican Under 20 side today, as he bids to thrash out his future. A decision is expected shortly.

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has spoken out in defence of team-mate Xavi over his comments about Cesc Fabregas that incurred criticism from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.


Xavi claimed last week that Spain colleague Fabregas had recently told him he has been "suffering'' because of his desire to rejoin the Catalan club. Those comments led Wenger to accuse Xavi of being disrespectful, but Pique does not believe that was the case.


"Barcelona and the players have always spoken with great respect," Pique was quoted as saying by Spanish newspaper Sport.


"Any player suffers when there`s so much talk about his future due to the uncertainty of not knowing where he will be playing. Saying that is not a lack of respect to anybody."


The World Cup winner, who like Fabregas left Barca as a youngster before later returning to the Nou Camp, also feels there has been too much speculation about the Gunners midfielder and whether he will be moving back to the club this summer.


"I know how the situation is, but I think we must leave Cesc in peace and let things run their course. The summer is very long, there has been a lot of talk and it doesn`t help at all," he added.

Sebastian Larsson may have left the club in 2007, but the Arsenal Academy product still has an influence. The 26-year-old is offering advice to fellow Swede Kristoffer Olsson, as he begins his career with the Gunners.

Olsson kicks off his second week of training with the club today, following an unlikely transfer from IFK Norrköping. The deal came about after Kristoffer’s agent, Per Jonsson, who also represents Larsson, called Liam Brady to arrange a trial. Brady usually backs away from Swedish talent, but decided to take the youngster on a trial.

After two successful run outs, Olsson has joined the ranks. A keen Manchester United fan, the 16-year-old now pledges his allegiance to Arsenal, and believes he boasts the qualities the club seek in midfielders.

“My first touch is really good, but also my passing game. They say that I’m a “Arsenal type of player”, a little bit like Fabregas and Nasri.” he told Direkt Fotboll.

A chance meeting with Fabregas in the gym made Olsson realise how big the switch to Arsenal is. One player who knows all about working with Cesc, Seb Larsson, will now help to groom a potential successor.

“Seb is going to call me and give me some advice. The ones I’ve talked to here says that they like him very much when he was playing here. They say that I’m a bigger talent than he was at 16, but Seb gave his all always, and that’s why he has succeeded.”

His final word on the club?

“Arsenal feels like a family. There are no divas here, and that suits me perfect, and I will do everything to succeed here.”

Olsson will be part of a new look Under 18 side that kicks off their season against Barnsley.
