While all the Arsenal fans are worrying about whether Arsene Wenger is really going to keep his promises and nuy some much-needed stars this summer, there are still some intrigues going on in the boardroom.

Stan Kroenke may have thought he had gained full control by buying out all the other shareholders, but it seems that he has not been as successful as he thought he was.

The Russian billionaire Igor Usmanov, who is determuined to invest in the team to win trophies, is still trying to edge his share up to 30% so that, by law, he will be given full access to the Arsenal accounts.

Today he has bought another 64 shares from an single undisclosed shareholder (at a cost of $1.5m), taking his share up to more than 29%, and he only needs a few more to make himself a real pain in the arse to Silent Stan.

There are still another 5% of shares out there owned by neither Kroenke or Usmanov, and if the Russian can get to them before Kroenke we could have a very interesting situation on our hands!

Samir Nasri is believed to be prepared to see out the final year of his contract with Arsenal, before leaving the club on a free transfer.

Nasri's future has been clouded with uncertainty all summer after he refused to commit to Arsenal by signing a contract extension, and has regularly lamented on the lack of silverware at the club.

A number of Europe's top clubs have been circling around monitoring the progress of the situation, with Barclays Premier League rivals Manchester United reportedly having a £20million bid rejected.

The Guardian now reports that Nasri has prepared himself to stay at the Emirates Stadium for one final season should Arsenal not receive an offer they are willing to accept.

However, that would leave him with option of leaving the Gunners for absolutely nothing next summer, when he will be free to join any of his many suitors.

England's biggest sides are generally reluctant to sell any of their players to one of their title rivals, let alone one of Nasri's calibre. United have however been encouraged by Nasri's apparent interest in moving to Old Trafford.

Arsenal are understood to have offered Nasri a £90,000-a-week contract, which would elevate to being one of the club's top earners.

Nonetheless, with Gunners manager Arsene Wenger having a strict maximum wage policy which has played its part in securing Arsenal's finances, Nasri is convinced he can get a better deal at United, and could be willing to wait another season before joining the Red Devils.

Nasri has already voiced his doubt over whether he will be staying at Arsenal last month when he said: "I don't know if I will sign a new contract."

Arsenal are at risk of losing Nasri the same way they did with his compatriot Mathieu Flamini back in 2008, when the holding midfielder saw out his contract before joining AC Milan on a free transfer.

Nasri was present on Arsenal's first day back at training, and will be part of their travelling squad for the club's two-match tour of Asia.

ARSENAL legend Patrick Vieira is set to hand Arsene Wenger a major snub by turning down a Gunners coaching role.

The French midfielder, 35, is ready to bring the curtain down on his glittering playing career.

And he was sounded out about a possible return to North London to take up a role within the Emirates backroom staff.

But Vieira looks set to become the latest player to slip through Arsenal boss Wenger's grasp - and head for Manchester City instead.

City were his last club and the free agent is in advanced talks with the FA Cup winners about a similar role there.

And Eastlands boss Roberto Mancini is sure he can persuade Vieira to sign on as a part-time coach.

Vieira made his name under Wenger during a nine-year spell at Arsenal but has strong ties to Mancini, having also played for him at Inter Milan.
