Ивуарийский нападающий, чей переход в стан "канониров" пока официально не подтверждён, уже говорит об этом как о свершённом факте.

Арсен Венгер начал свою работу по усилению состава покупкой Жервиньо в схватке с принципиальными соперниками - "Тоттенхэмом".

И 24-летний нападающий Кот-д-Ивуара обещает помочь клубу во что бы это ни стало прервать шестилетний период без трофеев.

Жервиньо, по сообщениям, перейдёт в "Арсенал" в понедельник за сумму в размере 11 миллионов фунтов, когда вернётся из своего отпуска, подписав 4-летний контракт с зарплатой в размере 60 тысяч фунтов в неделю.

Он сказал в интервью французским изданиям: "Выбрал "Арсенал", поскольку это молодая команда, в окружении которой я сумею быстро интегрироваться. В данном клубе я могу подняться на новый качественный уровень. Осталось лишь договориться по мелким деталям".

"Рискую ли я? Нисколько. Перехожу в "Арсенал", чтобы играть. Я собираюсь забить много голов и регулярно выходить на поле. Конечно, это можно посчитать достаточно опрометчивым утверждением".

Nicklas Bendtner's father and agent, Thomas, claims his son is attracting interest from 'all the big leagues'.

The Arsenal striker has regularly expressed his frustration at failing to hold down regular first-team football at the Emirates.

He has hinted that he may be forced to move on in order to get the games he feels he deserves.

That has fuelled speculation that he could be offloaded this summer, with Arsene Wenger keen to tinker with his squad.

German giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have been linked with moves for the 23-year-old frontman, while Sporting Lisbon are keen on taking him to Portugal.

Reports in the past have claimed that Italian clubs have contemplated making an approach, so Bendtner has plenty of options to consider.

His father insists no decision regarding his son's future has been taken as yet, but he has confirmed that the race to secure his signature is gathering pace.

"There has been interest from all the big leagues, but there is nothing concrete yet," Thomas Bendtner told Sporten.tv2.dk.

"The window is open for a long time."

Leading football agent Jerome Anderson has dismissed suggestions key players will leave Arsenal this summer because they are unhappy at the club's inability to win silverware.

He insists their desire to quit north London is more to do with money than trophies, even though the Gunners offer their top names fantastic contracts.

Anderson also claims there are only two clubs in the Premir League who could afford Brazilian sensation Neymar and that, if he comes to this country, he's more likely to join Chelsea than Manchester City.

This morning I woke up hoping that Arsène Wenger had made a least some sort of progress in the transfer market. Maybe he was on the verge of signing a world-class player who can restore club to its glory days? Instead, all I found were the same rumors telling me that too many of our talented young players are probably on their way out of the Emirates this summer.

Which led me to ask 2 questions:
1. Why don’t players stick around at Arsenal anymore?
2. Why are our players refusing to sign contract extensions and forcing moves to other clubs?

It would seem that consistent Champions League football at one of the top European clubs just isn’t enough for some world-class footballers. As far as I am concerned, we are only 2 or 3 major signings away from really challenging for the Premier League, but this has been the case for several years.

Trophies seem to be the key to all the problems. Players want to play for clubs that continue to invest in the squad and offer evidence that they can challenge for domestic titles and European championships. We do not instill the same level of confidence in players as the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United or even Chelsea. 6 years without a major trophy and our players have started to ask themselves one question:

“Why stay at Arsenal when I can move to another major European club that also plays in the Champions League, wins domestic trophies and offers significantly higher wages?”

Adebayor’s comments are as valid today as they were when he left the club 2 years ago.  Speaking to The News Of The World he said of Arsène Wenger’s transfer policy: “The strategy of the club is to sell every year and to buy less expensive players.” This summer is the time for change.

In my opinion, in Fabregas & Nasri (both 24) we have players who are leaving the club well before they have even reached the peak of their careers. An outfield player will generally peak between 25-30 (some will be a bit earlier, others a bit later). Imagine if we were able to keep hold of our midfield duo and add one or two more world-class players to the squad. Then we would be going somewhere.

Cesc to Barcelona I can understand. Wenger has just been putting off the inevitable and if Cesc wants to return to his childhood club then there is not a lot that we can do. They have spent the last 18 months driving us mad, and enough is enough. However, convincing Nasri to stay is of the utmost importance.

Samir Nasri has the potential to grow into a 15-goal-a-season midfielder and that is exactly the sort of player we need to be keeping at the club. So, offer him a big pay-rise and bring in a world-class replacement for Cesc to show Nasri that we are moving forward. It’s really not that difficult.

Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Gaël Clichy are the only players in our squad who have won an English trophy, and 2 of them are possibly leaving the club within the next few weeks. Our biggest issue is that we don’t have anybody who knows how to win a trophy in our team – we keep selling them. A team like ours, which is stuck in a continuous cycle of transition and squad development, will always find it more difficult to maintain a viable title challenge. With big spenders like United, Chelsea and Man City, the gap at the top of the table seems to be increasing.

Maybe that is something that Le Boss should consider?

It would appear that Arsène Wenger has finally realised that his sustainable transfer system is not working as well as he had planned. Despite what club representatives may say, I believe that he is under a lot of pressure from the board as fans start to voice their opinions about how the club is being run. This summer, though, will be different.

“We are definitely in the market for new players, that is for sure. “We have lists of transfer targets – numbers one, two and three – and we will try to achieve them.”

Wenger’s wage/contract policy is another big issue which is better left for discussion on another day.

Former Arsenal star Nigel Winterburn says the club have little chance of success next season unless they get some English spirit back into the squad.

Winterburn admits he is concerned for the club’s future with Cesc Fabregas and Gael Clichy looking certain to leave and with major doubts persisting over Samir Nasri’s future.

And he says Arsene Wenger must splash some serious cash on home-grown talent this summer if the Gunners are to have any chance of competing with Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United next term.

“I am concerned for this season coming,” said Winterburn, speaking to Saggers and Quinny. “Two players are definitely leaving in Fabregas and Clichy. I’m hoping that Nasri will stay.

"But these are worrying times when you look at three players who have been very prominent for the club. My understanding is two of them will be gone very, very shortly and we haven’t heard of any signings coming in.

“There are one or two rumours that maybe something will be happening for Arsenal in the next week and a half with players coming, so that’s positive, but we don’t know who those players are.

“They need to get two or three English players back into the squad to get that English spirit back, along with the style of football Arsenal have been playing. If they don’t do that, with the squad they have got at the moment, they are not going to win the league.

“Manchester City will strengthen, Chelsea will strengthen, Manchester United have already done it, and I don’t think Arsenal are powerful enough at the moment over 38 games to compete with those teams.”
