Arsenal have entered another round of negotiations with Ligue 1 champions Lille over the signing of Gervinho, in hope of announcing a deal for the Ivorian on July 1st.

The 24-year-old is keen to move to the Premier League and has been linked with several clubs, including Manchester City, Newcastle and north London rivals Tottenham.

However, Gooner Talk understands that Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis held ‘positive’ discussions with Lille general director Frederic Paquet earlier this week while a fee in excess of £10.5 million gets ’closer’ to being agreed on.

Ivory coast international Gervinho played a key role for Les Dogues last year, as they won the French league and cup double, scoring 15 goals and having 10 assists in the league alone.

Meanwhile, Daily Mirror journalist Darren Lewis revealed this morning that Arsenal will welcome two other big signings to the club next Friday — Ricardo Alvarez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are not interested in signing another striker this summer, according to their general manager Michael Zorc.

The 23-year-old has openly stated that he is looking for a new club after an increasingly uncertain year due to Robin van Persie’s goalscoring top form last season and the arrival of Moroccan frontman Marouane Chamakh in the summer.

Dortmund have a plethora of frontmen in their team already and Zorc admits that any rumours linking them with a move for Bendtner are unfounded.

Copenhagen-born Bendtber has not been a fans favourite since returning back from a loan spell at Birmingham in 2007, although his height up front has proved to be a useful weapon when needed.

Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn believes if Cesc Fabregas stays at the club this summer, he has to show more commitment than last season.

The Gunners skipper was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona last summer, but stayed at the Emirates as the two clubs could not agree a fee.

The saga looks to be repeating itself this summer, but it has been suggested that after a relatively uninspiring season from Fabregas, now might be the best time for Arsenal to cash in.

However, Winterburn believes he is the club's best player and has to stay, but only if he improves next season.

He said: "Cesc Fabregas would like to join Barcelona, but I think he's got great loyalty to Arsenal Football Club and Arsène Wenger, and I don't see him trying to force a move away.

"He had his injuries last season so I think that's why some have questioned whether you could do without Fabregas.

"He is a player that any squad in the world would want and Arsène Wenger has already stated he wants Fabregas in the team.

"He's the creative player; he takes the risk with those little forward passes in and around the box for [Robin] van Persie and [Marouane] Chamakh.

"[Samir] Nasri was sensational for half of the season and [Jack] Wilshere has done really well, but I wouldn't say you'd want to sell Fabregas.

"But if he stays he has to be committed to the football club - a half-committed player is not worth anything."
