Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confessed he is excited to add Carl Jenkinson to his squad, a player with great talent and natural defensive ability.

The 19-year old is the first summer signing for the Gunners and will most probably be Bacary Sagna’s backup for the right wing. The youngster told Arsenal Player that his natural position is indeed on the right wing as he likes to help defensively but can also be an asset when the team pushes forward.

The Frenchman also explained that the former Charlton Athletic man is very strong in defence and made quick progress with his former club as well as with the Finnish National team.

Jenkinson will join the rest of the squad for pre-season, period during which the Arsenal manager will evaluate the fitness level of the player and decide the position where he will be utilised next season.
