Roman Abramovich is considering making Harry Redknapp Chelsea's first English manager since 1996, according to the News of the World.With Carlo Ancelotti's future the subject of much doubt as Chelsea are all but assured a trophy-free end to the season, speculation is rife as to who will succeed the Italian.

Tottenham's Redknapp has been marked down as a future England boss, but the paper says he is cool on the prospect of international management - and that leaves the way clear for 'Arry to move across London.

Mind you, on another back page, it's a different story. Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola is Chelsea's number one choice to replace Ancelotti, according to the Sunday Mirror this morning.

The red top suggests that the club's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has 'finally run out of patience' with Ancelotti.

Guardiola is contracted to Barcelona for another year but, quoting an unsurprisingly anonymous source, the Mirror states that Abramovich will swoop for the Catalonia-born manager at the first sign of interest.

That's not the end of the Mirror's Chelsea speculation, however - not by a long shot.

Columnist Michael Calvin has his own ideas about who should take over the reins - none other than current Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard.

According to the erstwhile Calvin, Lampard has all the right ingredients to become 'Chelsea's answer to Kenny Dalglish', and - with uncle Redknapp flying high at Tottenham and father Frank a fixture in the West Ham coaching staff - the 32-year-old has football management in his DNA.
