Arsenal centre-back Sebastien Squillaci believes the Gunners can win the league title this year and is certain his form will improve in the future.

Squillaci, 30, was signed by Arsene Wenger in the summer for a fee in the region of £4 million from La Liga side Sevilla. The French international was thrust into action following an injury set back to Thomas Vermaelen and has suffered with a lack of consistency.

While Squillaci has been inconsistent he has shown glimpses of the form that persuaded Wenger to sign the veteran defender, putting in solid performances in the Champions League and scoring against Stoke City and Partizan Belgrade.

“Yes, of course, [the team has the ability to go and win the league], I think that we all know that the margins are small.” Squilllaci told Arsenal.com.

“We have to stay focused and stay on track. As I’ve said before we have to keep winning, picking up the three points, cut out the little mistakes and we still got Manchester United to play at home which will be a very important game.

“Lots of teams have got away games too, it’s not going to be easy but I think that we’re capable and we have got a great chance. I think we’ve got to be aware that we are capable of winning the title and myself and the team are convinced of it.

“[My first eight months at the Club?] I played a lot straight away as soon as I got here. I missed pre-season and that’s never easy but there you go, you have to adapt to that. The English league is a lot different to the other leagues I’ve played in but after that start it didn’t go too badly. As I said, I’m working hard every day to be competitive.

“It’s difficult to say [if the Arsenal fans have seen the best of me yet]. As I said I think my performances have been good but I’ve got to keep working hard and give everything to keep up my form. You can always do more, I still want to do more and that means winning a trophy for Arsenal."

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has suffered an injury scare while training with Denmark.

The 23-year-old was seen nursing his ankle knock with an ice pack before he was taken back to the team hotel for further tests.

According to reports, Bendtner suffered the ankle problem while running and there was no other player involved.

It remains to be seen whether the injury will prove to be serious, but the striker now looks a doubt for Denmark's Euro 2012 qualifier against Norway on Saturday.

The loss of Bendtner, who spent several months on the sidelines after the World Cup following a niggling groin problem, for any significant time would be a blow for the Gunners as they look to salvage something from their season.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have been given a double boost with the news that defender Johan Djourou and goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny could both return sooner than expected.

After initially being ruled out for the rest of the season, Djourou could now be back for the title run-in after Arsenal confirmed reports that he doesn't need reconstructive surgery on his shoulder injury, picked up during Arsenal's elimination from the Champions League against Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

Furthermore, goalkeeper Szczesny is winning his battle to be fit for the Gunners crunch match with Manchester United at the Emirates on May 1, a match that could eventually decide the outcome of the league title.
