Breaking News: Total uncertainty ahead of Osasuna match

At 0900h, the team should have boarded the plane at El Prat but was unable to do so due to the Spanish air Controllers strike.

It is now around 1130h and Spanish Air Federation posted a bulletin saying the airport at Barcelona to be opened at 1300h.

Good news but airport authorities say Barcelona flight can only be cleared at the latest around 1900h. Game is scheduled to be played at 2000h. Unlikely to happen.

Team is back at the Camp Nou awaiting Plan B which MAY entail using a 200 km bullet train ride. If they take that option, they must leave in half hour, around noon.


Sport.es says another option is to postpone match to around 19th December when both teams have no midweek game. Club had spoken with Spanish RFEF yesterday.

From a Tweet: Perez (secretary general Spanish federation): “At this moment, it’s most likely the game will be suspended.”

Club negotiating with authorities for air travel clearance – ruling out train or bus ride – failing which they’ll request postponement citing ‘state of emergency’.

Barca will not lose 3 points. An article in the competition regulations permitting the suspension of a match in an emergency.

‘State of emergency’ announced in the last hour by a minister, Rubalcaba according to Sport.es.

It is now 1253h. The Spanish league LFP and the Spanish federation RFEF are considering the suspension of the whole of match day 14 matches, according to Radio Marca.

Barcelona vice-president Jordi Cardoner sums up the confusion about whether or not this match would take place: "(The Spanish FA) had assured us that if the air space wasn't opened the match would be postponed. At 13:30 in the afternoon, the federation confirmed the postponement to our president and at 15:00 for unknown reasons they changed their opinion and told us the match would go ahead as planned. Obviously there has been a misunderstanding."
