Arsenal have signed highly-rated Japanese teenager Ryo Miyaichi although they must wait until next month to secure a work permit.

The 17-year-old wonder-kid has already been touted as the "new Cristiano Ronaldo," and Arsene Wenger is believed to be desperate for final confirmation of his move to North London.
The Gunners however, may be made to wait even longer to see him in action at the Emirates Stadium, due to possible difficulties over his eligibility to compete in the Premier League.
As a backup plan, Wenger will look to tie up a loan deal with Salamanca to give Miyaichi game time in Spain which would help him to eventually meet the criteria to play in England.
Arsenal have a long and established loaning relationship with Salamanca, as Spanish work permits are more easily accessible for non-EU players.
"For us, it's very important that Asia is represented at our club," Wenger stated.
"The problem we have in England at the moment is that we have difficulties to bring in the non-EU players. Before they are internationals so it makes the work for the young players very difficult but we will try to bring him in here.
"Miyaichi is currently recovering from a broken leg, but is set to return to full training in January."

Former Arsenal great Ray Parlour remains optimistic about his former team's chances for glory this season.

Arsenal resume their Champions League campaign tonight with an away game against Portugese outfit Braga, and Parlour believes a win and a clean sheet are very important for the players tonight.

The former Gunners midfielder wants to see the team respond in positive fashion, as he still believes they are in a good situation to win some silverware this year.

He said: "I'm very optimistic every season with Arsenal. You look at the league at the moment they've lost three games at home this season and they're still only two points behind.

"They're going to be disappointed still from the weekend, I'm sure they will, but the good thing about it is there's a game around the corner where you can say well let's have a really good performance tonight and let's forget about Tottenham.

"They need to put that to bed, win tonight, get a good performance under them and then hopefully they can go to Villa Park and do what they did at Everton and Wolves and scrape a victory.

"It's gone now. If we can get a good result tonight we've got Aston Villa at the weekend away from home - hopefully we get three points then.

"When you have had a poor result you can't wait to the next game to really put it to bed. If they can get a clean sheet tonight it will be a massive thing for Arsène Wenger, it really wIll."

Far from being the influential captain that was expected of him, Cesc Fabregas contrived to give Tottenham a penalty in Saturdays derby, which contributed to the Gunners throwing away a 2-0 lead.

It was a totally schoolboy error from Fabregas, and he got absolutely slaughtered on the Arsenal blogs after the game. But Wenger believes that he will learn from his mistake.

“He’s as intelligent as you and me and he understands you can’t do that,” said Wenger. “It was a reflex and a bad one so I hope that this will cure this reflex forever.”

Meanwhile Wenger also revealed that Fabregas still isn’t 100% after his hamstring injury, and will be checking his postion closely before tonights game.

“I don’t know whether he will be on the bench,” Wenger said. “I will have a medical meeting in the morning and I will speak with the player as well.”

It looks like Bendtner will be starting as lone striker tonight, with Van Persie left at home, and Chamakh suffering from fatigue. It seems Wenger has forgiven Bendtner his little outburst after leaving him out for the last two matches.

Wenger said: “Nicklas is sometimes a bit outspoken. He is a guy who is honest and genuine.

“I will wait in the morning to pick the team but Chamakh has played a lot of games.”

Hopefully the Dane can prove that he is fit enough to challenge Chamakh for a starting place …….

I was supposed to be lapping up the port before a plateful of sardines today in Portugal but the air strike tomorrow has curtailed my trip. If ever a game presented itself as one in which we can bounce back after the horror of Saturdfay then this is it. Braga ain't up to a great deal and surrely to heaven we still have enough about us to nick a win and confirm qualification to the knockout stages.

We travelled to Braga - via Spain because of the strike - without Gael Clichy, who has a back injury, while both AA23 and RVP are also missing.

Kieran Gibbs is set to play at left-back and Nik Bendtner is also in contention, while Cesc could start on the bench.

AW has had his say in the lead-up to the game and seems pretty pumped up after the Derby day defeat. He said: "I want this team to win so much. I am giving every drop of my blood to make sure this team wins. I want them to be successful because this team deserves it. Of course it hurts when you get so close, as we did on Saturday, but we did not manage to do it.

"But you must focus on the technical side of your game and not the result. The result is the consequence of what you want to achieve and how you want to achieve it. If you look too much at the result you become tense.

"It is a bit like the Formula One driver. When he goes into a corner and thinks he wants to cross the line at the end, he goes into the wall. If he focuses on how he wants to take the curve he has the same chance to get out of it."

When he asked if another suicidal display could damage the team, he continued: "That is the danger, that mentally, it becomes an issue. I do not think it will. But that is the fear you can have if it is repeated. It can become something which blocks the team.

"It will be a difficult game in Braga, I do not deny that. It is important that we come back with not only one point but three points, which would give us a good chance to finish top of the group. It is an important game, yes, but vital, no."
