После разгромной победы на "Брагой" главный тренер "Арсенала" Арсен Венгер поделился с журналистами мыслями о матче, игре Фабрегаса и Шамаха, а также о травме Диаби.

О победе 6-0...

"Мы выиграли матч, но я считаю, что мы играли в тот футбол, в который хотели играть, на высоких скоростях, с применением разнообразных технических элементов, множеством голевых моментов, хорошей концентрацией и командным духом. Наша игра базировалась на этом. Это наша философия и на протяжении долгого времени в этом матче мы показывали подобный футбол".

О футболе, показанном командой...

"Я считаю, что у нас было много хороших эпизодов на поле. Все сыграли здорово, и в защите и в атаке. Уилшир также показал добротный футбол".

О футболе, показанном Сеском Фабрегасом...

"Он, как из другого измерения. Люди забывают, что ему всего 23 года, и это тот возраст, в котором многие другие только начинают. У него фантастическая заряженность на игру и, что важно, он ведет команду к победе. Я считаю, что это отличная возможность для молодых игроков, которые играют вместе с ним для прогресса. Когда вам 18 лет, как Уилширу и вы видите Фабрегаса, которому 23 - это фантастическая возможность многому научиться".

О том, что капитану не удалось сотворить хет-трик...

"Мне понравилось, что он отдал мяч Веле вместо того, чтобы пробить самостоятельно. Это отражает стиль, который мы избрали, а также показывает реальную лидерскую позицию. Он делает в игре все, что захочет, при этом, он не эгоист".

О желании Фабрегаса выигрывать трофеи...

"Он любит клуб. Люди в этом не уверены, но я никогда в этом не сомневался. Он оказался здесь в 16 лет и он наслаждается тем футболом, который мы показываем, и чего больше вы хотите для его счастья?"

О том, что команда доказывает свой потенциал...

"У нас есть потенциал, но, вы забываете, что я всегда верил в эту команду, и то, чего эта команда добилась в возрасте 20-21 года. Сейчас им по 22-23 и они продолжают развиваться, и что порой сложно принять, так это чего они добились в 20 лет. Для меня, это потрясающий результат".

О том, что эта игра могла стать трамплином для Карлоса Велы...

"Он потрясающий завершитель атак, он упорно работал летом на тренировках и продолжает прогрессировать. Ему 21 год и он показывает фантастическую игру".

Об аренде Уилшира в "Болтоне"...

"Это было важным для него, потому что это ускорило процесс его созревания и важно было дать ему поиграть в Премьер лиге в достаточно плотных играх".

О том, ожидает ли он от Уилшира центральной роли столь рано по ходу сезона...

"Если честно, нет. Но футбол учит одной вещи - не забивай себе голову этим и не имей стойкого суждения. Вы нуждаетесь во мнениях порой, но вы должны иметь игроков со светлыми головами, потому что никогда не можешь предугадать, насколько быстро они разовьются".

О жестких тестах в преддверии...

"Я знаю, что вы нетерпеливы, но давайте насладимся сегодняшней победой. Если вы говорите о тестах, то у большой тест в субботу. Мы отправляемся в "Сандерленд", так что это будет хорошим тестом. В Европе, давайте квалифицируемся в следующий раунд, а затем посмотрим. Но "Шахтер" - будет определенно большим тестом для нас".

О том, уверен ли он, что его команда может выиграть большой трофей в этом сезоне...

"Да, я уверен. У меня есть проблемы с вашей уверенностью, но это нормально. Сейчас начало сезона и я считаю важным, что мы получаем одобрение за то, что делаем на поле. Так что мы продолжим придерживаться своей игры и сохранять концентрацию".

О том, что внушает ему такую уверенность...

"Вы видели сегодняшнюю игру. Вам не надо включать повторно этот матч, чтобы заметить, что мы были очень креативными, опасными и забивали голы. Вы видели темп, с которым мы можем играть и число моментов, которое мы можем создать. "Брага" выбила из розыгрыша "Севилью", так что это хорошая команда".

О Маруане Шамахе...

"Он и полузащитник, и нападающий. Он отдает пасы, много двигается, отрабатывает в защите, в пределах штрафной он ведет себя как форвард, и хорош на втором этаже. Он усердно работает на благо команды, так что полузащитникам одно удовольствие играть с ним".

О травме Диаби...

"Мы должны подождать и посмотреть, как он отреагирует на этот шок. У него кровоподтек и повреждение нескольких связок. Мы пока не знаем, когда он сможет выйти на поле снова".

О показанном потрясающем футболе, несмотря на большое количество травмированных...

"Это фантастика, потому что у клуба есть стиль, который все знают, и не важно, кто выходит на поле, команда все равно играет в свой футбол. Я всегда говорил, что у нас большой состав, где каждый может сыграть свою роль и это видно, если вы взглянете на сегодняшний состав. Некоторые классные игроки сидели на скамейке рядом со мной".

Влияет ли на вас то, что команда ничего не выигрывает...

"Конечно. Вы должны подумать о том, что в Европе мы в восьмерке лучших по коэффициентам нашего выступления из года в год, но мы не выигрываем. И чем дольше это длиться, тем больше люди будут говорить о том, как мы играем. Вы выигрываешь с качественной игрой, столь же простой как эта".

О том, говорил ли он в качестве стимула для игроков то, что финал пройдет на "Уэмбли"?

"Я говорил с игроками только о предстоящей субботней встрече против "Сандерленда".

Cesc Fabregas is back to his dazzling best, according to Bacary Sagna.

By his own admission the Arsenal captain was "below par" at Blackburn at the end of last month after a late start to pre-season following his exploits with Spain at the World Cup. But Fabregas was the driving force behind the weekend win over Bolton and sparkled against Braga on Wednesday night with two goals and a hand in two more as Arsenal cruised to a 6-0 victory.

Arsène Wenger hailed a superb team performance in his post-match press conference but admitted that Fabregas had "taken on a new dimension" to his game. And Sagna echoed his manager's thoughts when he faced reporters after the game.

"Cesc is a great player and everyone knows it," said Sagna.

"Tonight again he made some great passes and scored goals and it is good to have him back at his best level. He had a little problem to get completely fit because he played in the World Cup Final and that is normal. But everyone can see he is fit now and he is giving 100 per cent for the team.

"I am glad he stayed. Everyone here is glad to play for Arsenal and we try to show it on the pitch. We give everything and tonight it worked so that is good for us."

Of course Arsenal have made flying starts to other seasons but ended up with nothing when the prizes are handed out in May. Sagna believes that hard work and focus are the key to avoiding a similar fate this term.

"It is a good start and tonight's win is one of our best performances in the Champions League," said the right back. "If you look at the result we controlled the game from beginning to end and we scored some great goals. But now we have to keep going.

"With every victory we are getting more confident I think and now we just have to stay focused game after game. If we keep working hard then everything will be fine."

Sometimes a match comes along that reminds you just how spoilt you really are. For all Wenger’s flaws, for all the criticisms flung his way for his occasionally curious transfer policy and unwavering loyalties, he is capable of putting together a team that plays some of the most breathtaking football imaginable. And for that alone, we should enjoy the moment, because it won’t last forever.

Imagine being a Braga player this morning. Excited about your first foray into the Champions League, you’ve just been handed a comprehensive footballing lesson and been firmly put in your place. Because that’s what it was – a dizzying exhibition of football, slick one touch passing moves where you so often felt Braga could nick the ball back, only for our speed and touch to create space where it seemed none existed. The poor opposition ended the game bewildered, exhausted and demoralised.

Some are already pointing fingers in their direction. ‘It’s only Braga’, they say. Nonsense – these are the champions of Portugal [whoops - they came second, but still above Porto/Sporting], conquerors of Celtic and Sevilla in the qualifiers, and come with decent pedigree. In fact, if they can pick their confidence off the floor, they’ve got every chance of accompanying us into the knockout stages. But last night we were simply too good, too slick, and we had two creators in the middle of the park who ran the show – Cesc and Wilshere.

The former should have had an early penalty when chopped down on the edge of the box, but no matter – he soon slipped the ball through to Chamakh, who was taken out by their on-loan keeper, a man who quickly looked out of his depth at this level. So obvious was the spot kick that he simply apologised for a stupid aberration instead of protesting his innocence. Cesc buried the penalty with aplomb.

For twenty minutes the game was end to end – we had chances, but Braga looked dangerous on the break, albeit usually after we carelessly gifted them the ball, Clichy and particularly Arshavin playing us into trouble. But any concerns were soon buried – Cesc danced around two admittedly lame challenges in central midfield, before slipping Arshavin in to finish at the near post.

Barely had Braga recovered their senses before it was three. Chamakh showed strength on the edge of the box before giving the ball to Wilshere. What followed next was remarkable - Jack pirouetted, backheeled a perfect return to the Moroccan, who slotted home calmly. Three goals in three home games for a man who arrived on a free transfer is a great start, but it was another sign of how Wilshere has grown – he now knows when to play the simple pass, and when the extravagant is called for. And he doesn’t just imagine it, he executes it in style.

In the second half, we simply relaxed into our passing game, and it was too much for a demoralised Braga. The fourth came from sloppy defending – Cesc wanted the ball more than their centre half, and after playing it wide to Arshavin, ran into space to head home the resultant cross. Soon after, he was denied his first professional hattrick by the keeper’s hand and a clearance off the line. No matter – playing between a holding pair in midfield and the front line, he will continue to score plenty of goals, and his treble moment will come.

Vela then arrived to add icing to the cake. Just as against Bolton, he scored moments after coming on – Arshavin played him in after a sparkling passing move, and his dink over the keeper demonstrated his increasing confidence. It was a Carling Cup finish on a much bigger stage.

He was to add his second later on – Wilshere played the ball over the top, Cesc  unselfishly squared it, and Vela once again calmly slotted home. The rout was complete.

It was a special performance, and a sign of our strength in depth when you consider how different the starting eleven may have looked had all been present and fit – Van Persie and Vermaelen would certainly have been on the field, Diaby and Walcott possibly joining them. Don’t listen to the hacks claiming we have a small squad – we really don’t.

Instead, just enjoy what you are witnessing. We’re missing our two main target men, yet Chamakh is shining, Vela is making an impact from the bench, and our midfield are scoring goals at will. In defence, Koscielny and Squillaci are up for the fight – the former has already taken a battering this season and simply gotten up and carried on. This bodes very well.

Three home games, sixteen goals. Second in the league after a tricky set of fixtures, and starting the European campaign in style. Enjoy your day.
