Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas is finally back with the Gunners, ending all speculation about a possible move away from London.

It was a positive yet frustrating summer for the 23-year who won the 2010 World Cup with Spain but had to deal with a large number of transfer rumours linking him with a return to Spain, with Barcelona. But now he’s back, wearing an Arsenal shirt and looking happy as he joins his team mates during the 2010 Members’ Day.

The midfielder will not feature in this Saturday’s friendly game against Legia Warsaw and is a major doubt for Arsenal’s first match of the season against Liverpool, away from home although he will of course work hard on his fitness level this week.

World Cup finalist Robin van Persie is also back with the rest of the squad and like the Spaniard could miss Arsenal’s opener at Anfield with the Gunners certain to miss striker Nicklas Bendtner for the game.

Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has all but confirmed that his future is away from the English Premiership as he targets a move to Juventus in Italy.

The 26-year old is quoted as saying by Italian paper Tuttosport how he is flooded with offers and is considering some of them as he believes his time in the English league is over. The ex-Arsenal man failed to live up to expectations after leaving the North London Club and is finding life difficult under manager Roberto Mancini.

Arsenal fans will surely never forget the striker’s horrible behaviour during Manchester City’s 4-2 win against the Gunners last year after which he was charged with violent conduct relating to his alleged stamp on Robin van Persie.

Juventus finished 7th in last season’s Italian Serie A and will of course not compete in this season’s Champions League. They did however advance in the Europe League after easing past Shamrock Rovers.

On his future, Adebayor said:

Juventus are a great club in which I would like to play.

Until some time ago I would not have accepted a transfer to other clubs.

I wanted to wear the City shirt and have a better season compared to last year, but I know there will not be many chances for me and so I am considering the many offers I have received.

I am sorry to leave the Premier League, but in Europe there are other top leagues.

Arsenal supporters travelling from England for the Legia Warsaw friendly match on Saturday will be joined in the away enclosure by 126 members of the Arsenal Poland Supporters Club.

The match has generated great excitement with our Polish fans and they are looking forward to joining up with the travelling supporters to give the team a vocal welcome. 

It is hoped that both groups of supporters will get together to give the team strong support during the match.

Tottenham go into today’s play-off draw aiming to reach Europe’s top-level competition for the first time since 1961, while Arsenal share Real Madrid’s record of 10 successive participations in the knockout stages.

But Defoe in unconcerned by the burden of history, saying: ‘’If we can get past the play-off qualifier, I honestly think we will go further than Arsenal in the Champions League.

‘’No disrespect to Arsenal, because they have a good record in the Champions League and for them it’s become part of the furniture, part of their regular season – it’s the norm.

‘’But I can’t wait to experience the buzz around White Hart Lane on European nights, the place will be absolutely rocking.

‘’I do believe, if we can make that first step, that we will be contenders. We’ve got the squad, younger players like Gareth Bale have come on a bundle since we were last in Europe, and the gaffer would love to show what he can do as a manager in Europe.’’

Spurs’ squad are not used to the increased workload of a Champions League campaign, with the first leg of the play-off following just days after the Barclays Premier League opener against Manchester City.

‘’With City first up followed by a Champions League qualifier, it feels like the business end of our campaign might be in the first few weeks,’’ Defoe continued. ‘’It’s a tough schedule, but we will be ready for it mentally.

‘’Tottenham fans have been waiting forever for a team to deliver Champions League football and we don’t want to be one-hit wonders.’’
