Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky admits he has heard the rumours linking him with a move to Germany.

But the 29-year-old insists he has so far not received an offer from any clubs.

Borussia Dortmund, Cologne and Hamburg are among the clubs being linked with a move for the Czech Republic international.

He told Sport.cz, when asked about the rumours: “I have noticed that, but I don’t know anything about it.

“I am only interested in the pre-season schedule with Arsenal.”

Rosicky’s agent, Pavel Paska, said: “There has been interest in Tomas, but his priority remains with Arsenal.”

Thomas Vermaelen is looking for improvement on his own and his team's performances next season.

The Belgian moved from Ajax to Arsenal last summer and enjoyed an impressive first season for the Gunners, proving solid in defence as well as surprisingly prolific in front of goal.

But Arsenal finished third in the league after some poor end of season form, and generally conceded too many goals over the course of the year.

The defender admits it was not easy making the move to England, but hopes he will be a better player after his first year at his new club in a new league.

He said: "I learned a lot from my first year in the Premier League. It's not easy when you come from another country because the Premier League is the hardest league in the world. I learned a lot from playing at a higher level, I've learned from different situations in the games, so I hope that I can improve next year.

"We have to continue what we've been doing, we're working hard. This year it didn't work out, but I'm still convinced that we have a lot of good players and a good team with a lot of quality and I'm convinced that next year we can win trophies with this team."

Vermaelen added that injuries to key players did not help Arsenal's cause in the big games towards the end of the season.

He said: "We had a lot of injuries this year from really important players. Cesc had a lot of injuries, Robin had a long injury, so if we can all be fit for a long time next season it will be a good year for us."

Real Madrid and Holland star Rafael van der Vaart is reportedly offered to several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal.

With José Mourinho as the new boss at the Bernabeu, Rafael van der Vaart could be a surplus to requirements. Especially now that Angel Di Maria has also joined the Spanish giants.

It is being said that Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have also been informed about the availability of the Dutch midfielder. Especially Liverpool's new manager Roy Hodgson is expected to be alerted by the news as he is thought to be a great admirer of Van der Vaart's talents.

It is not the first time Van der Vaart has been linked with a possible move to the Emirates. Earlier this year Robin van Persie had already put in a good word for his fellow Dutchman.

Van der Vaart started his professional career with Dutch giants Ajax, where he made over 100 appearances in the first team before moving to Hamburger SV in Germany in 2005 for a €5,5 million transfer fee. Three great seasons later he moved to Real Madrid in 2008 for a fee of €15 million.

Van der Vaart had a good start at the Bernabeu, but went down in the pecking order as Real Madrid strengthened their side with players such as Káká, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. Van der Vaart fought himself back into the team but it is expected that Mourinho will be looking to cash in on the player as 'The Special One' is eyeing some new players.

Van der Vaart is currently in South Africa with the Holland squad, who are taking on Brazil later today in the first match of the quarter-finals.

After being a transfer target for Arsenal for a while, The Gunners are one of the favorites to sign Van der Vaart, should they decide to make a move this summer.

The reports of a new bid come just a day after Barcelona's new President, Sandro Rosell, officially started his role at the club.

Rosell has made no secret of his wish for Fabregas to return to Barcelona, having left the Catalan club when he was 16-years-old to join Arsenal.


The Spain international yesterday told Sky Sports he could still be playing at Arsenal next season but Roselli is determined to get his tenure as Barcelona President off to the perfect start.

Arsene Wenger has said Arsenal will not sell at any price and they rejected a £29m bid just a month ago but Roselli feels £40m will be too good an offer to refuse.

Fabregas would find himself behind Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets in the pecking order just as he is in the Spain team.

Ozil only has one year left on his contract at Werder Bremen and it looks like he will not be short of offers after his excellent performances at the World Cup, but he believes he will have more chance of winning trophies if he moves to Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge.

“The World Cup is all that matters at the moment,” Ozil said. “When I get back we can think about my future, but for now it’s not something I want to give a lot of thought to. To the top players, the Premier League is attractive.

“You look at what Manchester United and Chelsea have achieved over the last five years and you see it would be easy to be successful at two clubs like that. I see what Michael Ballack achieved at Chelsea and the quality of players he played with and the temptation becomes obvious.

“Trophies are what matters to me. There are two teams in England always at the top and of course that’s attractive, but the same is true for La Liga. They’re the strongest leagues in the world.”

Other than Arsenal and Chelsea, Barcelona and Man City have also been linked with Ozil. Perhaps Barcelona will go for him now that they can’t get Fabregas!

Spanish giants Real Madrid are considering a £35m move for Arsenal’s Robin Van Perise, according to Marca. The report says that new Real boss Jose Mourinho is keen to replace the outgoing Madrid legend Raul and sees Van Persie as the ideal replacement.

Madrid are ready to make their move despite Van Persie being under contract at the Emirates and has given no indication he wants to leave. But the report claims he may consider his future as he has yet to win a league title with Arsenal and may be tempted by the silverware he is ‘guarenteed’ to win if he moves to Spain.

Van Persie is currently in South Africa representing Holland who play Brazil this afternoon in the World Cup quarter finals, and Real are lining up a £35m bid when the tournament is over.

There you go then, Van Persie must be off if Marca say its true. So Real are going to spend £35m on a replacement for a player who warmed the bench all of last year? That makes sense i suppose. They already have Higauin, Kaka and Ronaldo to fill the front three positions, so why exactly would they want to spend that much on Van Persie?

Total rubbish if you ask me, but to be honest if Real did want to give us £35m for him….i would take it. That kinda money for a player who physically cant complete a full season, yes please! A fit Van Persie is world class and i wouldn’t sell him for all the tea in China, but that’s the problem…he doesn’t stay fit. So if this story has any foundation, and that’s a big if, i think Arsenal would and should consider it.
