Striker Emmanuel Adebayor has signed a new 'long-term' deal at Arsenal as speculation continues to link the Gunners with a move for Newcastle and England's Michael Owen. The Togo international has established himself as a regular in Arsene Wenger's first team after arriving at the club in the 2006 January transfer window. Adebayor's contract extension is hot on the heels of Emmanuel Eboue's decision to make a similar commitment to Arsenal. The length of Adebayor's new contract was not disclosed by the Gunners but the move comes in the wake of renewed speculation that Owen could be bound for the Emirates. Wenger is expected to watch Owen play for England B against Albania on Friday and again when England play Brazil and Estonia. Owen's chances of moving to champions Manchester United are understood to have evaporated because of the combination of his Ј5million-a-year wages and doubts over his fitness. He has yet to discuss his future on Tyneside with new manager Sam Allardyce but his Liverpool counterpart Rafa Benitez has no interest in taking the former Liverpool striker back to Anfield. Wenger, in the meantime, has assured fans they will be back among the silverware next season. Arsenal have not won anything for two years but the French coach believes his young side have the ability to end that run next term. Wenger said: "I believe that at the moment our fans think we have fantastic potential, but that they also have the anxiety of whether or not they will deliver. "And I tell our fans that they will deliver. They will. They have to continue to believe in the team. "At the moment that is the only question mark. Nobody questions the quality in our team, the potential we have. But everybody is asking 'will they deliver'? Well, they have to trust us. "This side can be absolutely outstanding. But to win trophies you have to be a killer. You have to have everything together. "I believe that we have to be faithful to the way we see the game." Meanwhile, Arsenal captain Thierry Henry believes the time is right for England to consider recalling Real Madrid's David Beckham. The former England captain has not been picked since last summer's World Cup. However, the LA Galaxy-bound midfielder has been inspirational in Real Madrid's La Liga title chase. Henry said: "He has been the most consistent player at Real Madrid. Maybe his quality was not appreciated with England before. "He has never dropped his quality. What Beckham has done at Real Madrid has been unbelievable. "I don't want to say anything controversial because to be the England manager is probably the hardest job in the country and you have to respect Steve McClaren's choice. "But maybe when David was playing for England people took him for granted. As soon as he's not playing people call for him to be recalled and that speaks volumes. "The guy has been magnificent for English football."
