Международный совет футбольных ассоциаций отказался от идеи внедрения в игру системы фиксации голов, а также от использования рефери видеоповторов.

Международный совет футбольных ассоциаций (IFAB) состоит из нескольких национальных федераций - Англии, Шотландии, Уэльса, Ирландии - а также представителей ФИФА. Исторически именно эта организация отвечает за изменения правил футбола.

Например, именно по инициативе IFAB в нынешнем сезоне в Лиге Европы были введены два дополнительных ассистента рефери. Однако, в целом эта организация является довольно консервативной, что и подтвердило ее последнее заседание в Цюрихе.

На текущей неделе IFAB обсуждал внедрение в футбол двух инновационных технологий - системы фиксации голов, когда неясно, пересек мяч линию ворот или нет, а также предоставление главному рефери возможности по ходу матча посмотреть видеоповторы, когда у него есть сомнения относительно какого-то из эпизодов.

За данное нововведение проголосовали футбольные ассоциации Англии и Шотландии, они были готовы опробовать новые технологии в своих национальных первенствах. Голосов против оказалось больше - Ирландии, Уэльсу и ФИФА эта идея не понравилась. Таким образом, в обозримом будущем дорога инновационным технологиям в футбол будет закрыта.

"В конце концов, все свелось к тому, верим ли мы, что будущее футбола связано с технологиями или нет. Мы поддержали идею и объявили, что готовы провести эксперименты по использованию этих инноваций. Однако, некоторые аргументы оказались слишком весомыми, и нам пришлось смириться", - сообщил глава FA Ян Уотермор.

Rio Ferdinand's agent Pini Zahavi is reportedly set to head a £1 billion bid for Manchester United.

The speculation is splashed across the back page of The People, which says the Israeli 'super agent', a mate of United boss Alex Ferguson, has contacts with some of the richest people in the world.

Zahavi has overseen many of the foreign takeovers of English clubs, the most successful of which was Roman Abramovich's arrival at Chelsea.

And the least? Portsmouth, of course. Should American owners the Glazer family sell, they and United will demand to know the identities of every one of Zahavi's backers, who apparently have the cash stashed in Swiss bank accounts, ready and waiting.

Harry Harris's Daily Express column meanwhile makes the claim that the Glazers are more than happy to stay, and have turned down bids from China and the Middle East.

They would want at least £1.5bn, he says. Whatever the figure, it seems unlikely that the much-trumpeted 'Red Knights' led by London financiers would be able to afford it.

Arsenal fancy Nice striker Loic Remy while manager Arsene Wenger has said he is interested in Juventus flop Felipe Melo. Roma boss Claudio Ranieri is eyeing Gunners defender William Gallas, out of contract in the summer. (Star)

Chelsea want AZ Alkmaar's Belgian striker Moussa Dembele, also being tracked by Juve, Milan and Ajax, while the latter's captain Luis Suarez could be set for a £10m switch to Sunderland. (Star)

And finally: David Ginola, who was involved in Newcastle's bid to be a host city for the potential 2018 World Cup in England, is now working for the overall bid, such is his eloquence of speech and silkiness of haircut.

Apparently - some would say inexplicably - he moved his family from the south of France to London, so much does he love this country.

Rooney a doubt for Milan

The loss of Rooney would be a bitter blow for the Reds who are already without the injured Michael Owen (hamstring), Anderson (knee), Ryan Giggs (arm) and John O’Shea (leg).

Wes Brown was replaced at half-time by Gary Neville at Molineux after tweaking his knee, while Jonny Evans is also nursing a knee problem which forced him to miss the trip to Molineux having withdrawn from the Northern Ireland squad earlier in the week.

There is, however, light at the end of the tunnel for others.

“We’re not far away from having Owen Hargreaves back and [Kiko] Macheda has now started training,” confirmed Sir Alex. “That’s a bonus because he can score a goal which could be important without Michael Owen for the rest of the season.”
