Bayern Munich winger and French international Franck Ribery (26) wants to play alongside Lionel Messi, according to his agent Alain Migliaccio, who told Catalan radio station RAC-1 on Wednesday. The agent also said that the French forward has not closed any doors for a transfer, and would welcome renewed interest from other clubs.

According to Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo, Ribery has insisted that his dream is to be a part of the offence in Barca and to play alongside Leo Messi. “To play together with Messi would be fantastic”, said the agent. A statement which confirms that he would like to join Barcelona, and which buries the rumours that he is close to sign for Real Madrid.

Magliaccio however likes to keep the doors open, “There are no doors closed, not that of Real Madrid, or of Barca, or Manchester United“. He also does not rule out a possible extension for Bayern Munich, but this seems more unrealistic as the time goes. The decison will apparently be made in March, “At the beginning of March we will make a decision and then see”, said the agent.

Barca showed their interest in Ribery last summer, but Bayern Munich were not interested in selling their biggest star. With the presidential elections taking place in Barcelona this summer, there is a possibility that some candidates could make a move to influence voters. Ribery knows that he lost one chance last summer, and would like a transfer if he gets a new chance, which is also something his wife wants.

“I have never hidden that one day I would return to Barcelona. I have been a blaugrana since I was nine months old when I first entered the Camp Nou with my grandfather, I never stopped going to the stadium and have been a cule all my life. For one reason or another I had to leave, but you never know what can happen in the future”
