Manchester United's anti-Glazer faction have claimed the controversial owners have landed the club with a £260million interest bill since they took control in 2005, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The staggering sum includes the £41.9million paid out in interest in the year to June 2009, which contributed to turning what would have been a huge profit of £91.3million into a 'mere' £48.2million - a sum bolstered by the world-record £80million transfer fee received from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo.

It means that while as a pure day-to-day business, United are more streamlined and profitable than any club in the world, their financial model is dragged down by the huge costs incurred when the Glazers completed their £790million buyout.

"Most supporters have had enough," said Manchester United Supporters' Trust (MUST) chairman Duncan Drasdo.

"Under their ownership the club has become liable for more than £260million in interest payments alone and the latest trading statement would have shown a substantial loss were it not for the sale of Ronaldo.

"The day the Glazers put the club up for sale you can expect celebration on the streets of Manchester."

And while the Glazers could quite rightly point out the last three years - all of which have yielded the title and a minimum of a place in the Champions League semi-finals - have been among the most successful in the club's history, some fans fear for the future.

"If it were a race, then United are dragging their owners behind them like a broken tractor, while City's owners are providing rocket fuel," added Drasdo.

"It just shows what a fantastic job Sir Alex and the players have done that we are still ahead despite the deadweight of the Glazers' ownership.

"It is in everyone's interest for the Glazers to exit and make way for a new investor interested in working with the supporters to build a stronger football club and business together.

"Manchester United doesn't need a sugar daddy - we just need to get rid of the leeches."

Sir Alex Ferguson will be handed £75million to spend on new players by Manchester United's owners in a bid to haul the club out of its financial crisis.

The Glazers have borrowed the money and will give it straight to Fergie to spend on his squad in a bid to encourage investors to buy £500m-worth of bonds.

United's owners have taken the decision to increase their borrowing as they attempt to make the bonds more attractive to potential investors.

They believe the scheme will have more chance of succeeding - and bringing down their overall level of debt - if Fergie is able to strengthen his squad with big-name signings.The Glazers' re-financing plan involves a bonds issue to ease the debt burden which is threatening to cripple the club.

But United's owners have also entered into a new credit facility to raise £75m to be used as 'working capital' – a transfer fund for Fergie.

Although United made a £48m profit in the last financial year, that was only possible because of the world record £80m sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid.

Fans already opposed to the Glazers' ownership of United have used the release of the latest set of financial results to call for them to leave the club.

Duncan Drasdo, chief executive of MUST (Manchester United Supporters Trust), said: "Now is the time for the Glazers to go.

"This bond issue is just rearranging the deck chairs and still leaves the club with huge debts which they expect supporters to continue to fund.

"The day the Glazers put the club up for sale you can expect celebration on the streets of Manchester. Most supporters have had enough."

Valencia are ready to sell their two Davids in 2010.

Sport says the club's debts have forced Valencia to seek buyers for David Villa and David Silva at the end of this season. Even Champions League qualification won't be enough for Los Che to avoid cashing in on their star duo.

Villa is on the agenda of both Chelsea and Manchester United, while Silva is a favourite of Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola.
