Diaby and Song inspire second half revival for Gunners
WEST HAM UNITED

Green - 7 - Had little trouble dealing with a few sharp shots from the Gunners in the opening half and looked generally composed under pressure in the second half, when he made more excellent and brave saves.

Faubert - 6 - Decent display in defence and attack as the Hammers forced Arsenal on to the back foot in the first half and worked solidly in the second.

Tomkins - 6 - One error from the youngster almost gave Eduardo a decent chance in the opening half, but otherwise reasonably solid in the middle of the Hammers defence where he was caught out a few times.

Upson - 7 - Good steady performance at the heart of the West Ham defence with one or two beautifully judged tackles when danger threatened.

Daprela - 6 - Few problems coping with the Arsenal forwards and pushed forward whenever he could. Made goal line clearance in closing minutes from Vela

Behrami - 6 - A decent display in keeping the team ticking over but did little to catch the eye.

Jimenez - 6 - Another all action busy display for the Hammers, his industry was vital in protecting their lead. 

Kovac - 7 - His fine through ball led to the opening goal for the Hammers when Silvestre stepped up to play Diamanti onside; good performance.

Diamanti - 8 - An all-action display full of venom and danger, he almost scored with a well-stopped shot before finding the net for the opening goal with a crisp finish from Kovac's pass.

Stanislas - 6 - Combative and sharp, he had a good afternoon for the Hammers and kept the Arsenal defence stretched with his energy and effort.

Nouble - 6 - Strong and bold in attack, he did a good job for the Hammers attack and showed few signs of any lack of experience or nerves.

Subs:

Sears - 6 - A late substitute with only little time on the field

Edgar - 6 - Late arrival with little time.



ARSENAL

Fabiansksi - 7 - Several fine saves helped keep the Gunners afloat and he did his claims for a regular spot in the team no harm at all.

Sagna - 6 - Tried to provide width and a supply of crosses from the right flank when he overlapped but did not see as much of the ball as he would have liked and did well defensively.

Gallas - 7 - Strong and imposing for the Gunners for most of the evening, but again was occassionally exposed by sharp movements around him.

Vermaelen - 6 - Lucky to escape with a possible handball in the first half, he looked less steady and comfortable than in recent weeks. 

Silvestre - 6 - His error in stepping up to claim offside was a mistake that led to the opening Hammers goal. Was unable to do much to redeem the error.

Merida - 6 - Did many good things with the ball, but also made mistakes with too many touches and struggled to integrate smoothly into the attacking machine. Withdrawn after an hour. 

Song - 8 - Worked very hard to hold the team together in midfield where Arsenal's lack of experience was exposed, and collected a yellow card for his troubles. 

Ramsey - 7 - Did his best, but this was not an afternoon to enjoy for the Welsh youngster as he found himself lacking space to play and struggling to impose himself before taking control and scoring a fine equaliser in the second half.

Wilshere - 6 - A tough game for the teenager as the Hammers gave him little room or time on the ball, but he worked hard and his touch and movement were generally good. Hooked after an hour.

Vela - 6 - Had one first half shot well saved by Green, but did little else to justify much faith in his potential to claim the centre forward's job until, after moving to the left flank, his late cross created the winner for Eduardo.

Eduardo - 7 - A better than usual display from the Croatian who had a first half shot well saved and was generally busy and threatening before he leapt to head the winner from Vela's cross. 

Subs:

Diaby - 7 - Came on as a second half replacement and immediately injected strength and quality to the Arsenal midfield.

Nasri - 6 - Produced quality touches as a second half sub to prove nothing replaces skill.
