Ronaldo told Man Utd to move for Sporting keeper Rui Patricio

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is tracking Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio, on recommendation of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Daily Mail says United are keen on the Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Patricio, according to his agent.

Real Madrid star Ronaldo is understood to have recommended Patricio, 21, to Sir Alex Ferguson after United’s 2-1 Champions League win over Sporting in September 2007, and the United boss has received a string of glowing reports from his Portugal-based scout Toninho Cruz.

Am vazut tot mai mult ca se vehiculeaza numele lui Feghouli ca un posibil transfer in ianuarie,se pare ca SAF se reorienteaza spre piata franceza,asta e bine,francezii an de an produc tineri talentati si,in plus,se muleaza perfect pe campionatul britanic.Eu si cu acest Obertan ma gandesc ca SAF are planuri ascunse,ca in cazul Tosic-Ljajic.In acest caz el a avut nevoie de Ljajic,dar ei doi se vindeau la pachet si SAF a fost nevoit sa-i achizitioneze pe ambii.Din aceasta cauza ma gandesc ca si in cazul Obertan isi batatoreste terenul poate in intentia de a aduce pe cineva valoros de acolo...poate pe Gourcuff??? Cu toate ca si Obertan e un jucator promitator.

Scholes eyes a coaching role

PAUL SCHOLES will turn his hand to coaching when he hangs up his boots.

The former England midfielder, who is contracted to Manchester United until June 2010, turns 35 in November.

And he is keen to see whether he can be a success as a manager.

Scholes said: "I'm going to give the coaching a go and see how it goes.

"I'll probably start looking at that in the next couple of weeks, hopefully, and see how I feel doing that."

City fan accuses United steward

A Manchester City fan claims he broke both legs after being pushed down the stairs by a Manchester United steward.
FOOTBALL Steward - 0

City fan Peter Sweeney claims he was left in agony in the street and only taken to hospital when a policeman found him with cuts to his head, face and arms.

The alleged incident is said to have taken place minutes into the Manchester derby on September 20 and police have collected CCTV footage from Old Trafford.

Sweeney, who weighs just seven stone on account of a rare condition, was asked to leave after being found smoking in a toilet.

The 46-year-old was confronted by the same steward who found him smoking when attempting to sneak back into the stands.

"I agreed to leave without a fuss," Sweeny told the Sun. "But as we headed along the concourse he shoved me in the back three or four times with real aggression.

"When I protested he told me he was entitled to 'use reasonable force'. With that he led me to the top of the stairs and pushed me straight down."

He added: "I wasn't drunk. I'd had a pint and a half of Guinness but I can't drink more because of my condition.

"This guy was nothing but a bully. He's there to protect the fans - not attack them. I'm lucky he didn't kill me."

Five of Manchester United’s worst goalkeeping howlers

With Edwin van der Sar on the verge of retirement and Ben Foster happily playing himself out of the team, it looks like Fergie will soon be on the market for a new keeper. Ben Baker rounds up five goalkeeping gaffes Sir Alex might want to keep in mind while deciding who he’ll hand gloves to next…

1. Massimo Taibi vs. Southampton (1999)
On the most part, Manchester Utd fans are thankful that Taibi only ‘enjoyed’ a short spell with them during the 1999/2000 season. Despite only playing a handful of games he will always be remembered for somehow managing to let a feeble Matt Le Tissier shot slip through his legs. In the space of seconds Taibi challenged the idea that Italian keepers were the safest pair of hands between the sticks.

2. Fabian Barthez vs. Arsenal (2001)
In this clash of the titans, Barthez’s attempt at a simple goal kick ended up as a comical back-pass to an Arsenal player. Fair enough if it had been Martin Keown bearing down on goal, but it was Thierry Henry - the one player you don’t give freebies to.

According to Kevin McCarra of The Guardian, United have already found their successor to Cristiano Ronaldo in Ryan Giggs. Continuing the praise for Ryan's eye-catching displays this season, McCarra says: “Giggs can end his career as he began it – the league's brightest talent.”
