Mark Hughes is adamant Craig Bellamy did not create a confrontation with a Manchester United fan at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Football Association are still deciding whether to bring any action against Bellamy for what appeared to be a shove in the face of a supporter, who had gone onto the pitch shortly after Michael Owen had scored in stoppage time.

"All Craig has done is go over there and tell the guy to get off the pitch," said Hughes.

Although Hughes' assistant Mark Bowen claimed Bellamy though he was about to be spat at, TV replays show the Welshman advancing towards the melee and that the fan was being held by two stewards when Bellamy struck out.

If the FA decide such conduct warrants a charge of violent conduct, it could mean a three-game ban for a player who has been embroiled in so much disciplinary trouble before.

However, Hughes is not expecting that to happen and has defended Bellamy's actions.

"Craig wasn't privy to how much time was left to enable us to get back into the game," added Hughes.

"The guy made an aggressive move towards him and Craig wanted to get him off the pitch. Craig just put a defensive hand out to push him away. You can never be quite sure what is going to happen in those situations.

"We have not been contacted by the FA but if we are, that is what we will say."

The United fan who Craig Bellamy hit on Sunday has spoken out about what happened.

“I was flung towards the barrier when Michael Owen scored - the place went mad, everyone was hugging each other and I can’t explain why it happened,” said Jake Clarke. “I was just loving the moment I guess after all the excitement throughout the match. The next thing I was on the pitch just wanting to celebrate with the United players. It’s not in my blood to want to hurt anyone, I just wanted to cheer them up close. I remember being tackled on the pitch and then I saw Bellamy coming over to me. He shouted at me, “Get off the fucking pitch you fucking knobhead. He said it a few times then just shoved me in the face. I said to him, “4-3 mate,” and I think he said something else to me before I was taken away. I’d had a few drinks before the game but I wasn’t drunk - honestly, it was the emotion that got to me. I’m United through and through, as is all my family, and I can’t ever remember a finish like that. I’m desperate to avoid a ban - I love the club. I just don’t know what came over me.”

referitor la chestia cu derby: nu are importanta cit de grele sunt meciurile, e important ca derby-urile sunt meciuri intre echipe din acelasi oras... de aici si denumirea de derby, de la orasul acesta unde aveau loc meciuri ale echipelor locale....

chelsea-united niciodata nu va fi derby, cum nu va fi nici barca-real... aici e vorba de rivalitatea fanilor care impart orasul... acolo daca bate united fanii merg prin oras si nu prea dau ochii cu fani chelsea prin oras, dar aici o victorie united ii va face pe fanii city sa plece capul inca cel putin jumtate de an....

Chestia cu WH si Milwall e ca ele au cei mai fanatici hooligans,din aceasta cauza se considera meciurile dintre ele cu un grad ridicat de periculozitate.
