Barcelona made an approach for Nani

British tabloid The Sunday Telegraph claims that Barcelona made an approach for Manchester United winger and Portuguese international Nani (22).

The club is believed to have contacted Manchester United after the Champions League final in May asking about the availability of Nani. The English champions would have rejcted the approach.

Nani told the tabloid: "I heard something about Barcelona. It is good for a player to hear that the best clubs in the world want you to play for them. But my mind was only thinking about Manchester.

It makes me really happy to know that this club wants to keep me, it really gives me confidence. It's fantastic to know that, at a club like this, they are thinking about my future. I have never thought about going. I have been here only two years and want to do something for this club, to be part of its history."

Medical: Zlatan could get green light tomorrow

Barcelona player Zlatan Ibrahimovic (27) will tomorrow undergo new tests to see how the recovery of his hand injury is going.

The Swedish striker almost hasn't felt any pain during the US tour and it is expected he will tomorrow be given the green light to start training with the group. If the recovery keeps on going well, Ibrahimovic could then make his official Barcelona debut in the friendly game against Mancehster City, where he might play one half.

Ibrahimovic broke the base of the second metacarpal bone of his left hand during a friendly game with his former club Inter Milan last week and was then expected to return for the Joan Gamper Trophy against Manchester City on 19 August.

Barcelona planning new move for Cesc

British tabloid The Daily Express claims that Barcelona will make a new move for Arsenal midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas (22).

Sources in Spain are reported to claim that Barcelona will offer Arsenal a transfer fee of 29 million euro° plus some Barcelona players, and play on the fact the Catalan midfielder has always idolised Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola, knowing their only chance of landing the midfielder is if he asks to return to Barcelona.

The economic impact of the US tour

Barcelona economic vice-president Joan Boix talked about the economic side of the tour in the United States in an interview with the club's official media:

"We're opening a very important market, we've signed new contracts with our local sponsors for the next three years. We have an engagement to return because Barça is striking a cord in the United States.

The benefits for the club of this tour are between 5 and 6 million euro, which is more than we had planned. It has been excellent, the tour was perfect. It was all very-well organized and it was good for the team too. Of course, this is only the immediate impact.

There's also a the medium- and the long-term, the fact that the Barça brand is getting known better and better in such an important country as the United States. One of the satisfactions of this tour has been the ticket sales, to see how many football fans in this country have been filling the stadiums and have supported FC Barcelona. And since part of the revenues of the tour depended on the tickets sold, that was very positive."

Txiki on Cesc, Mascherano and Chygrynskiy

Speaking to the club's official media, Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain commented on some names that have been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Cesc
"It depends on what you are willing to spend. If we will invest a lot of money, he could come. But we don't know how big the investment should be since we didn't yet ask Arsenal about him. If the asking price would be exaggerated, we won't try to sign him."

Mascherano
"I don't like to exclude any of the players we like and that we believe can improve our squad."

Chygrynskiy
"He is a very good option, but at the right price. We have made an attempt and we will continue to try, but only if we consider the price to be reasonable, otherwise we won't do it."

Youth players
"We have the fortune that our youth policy is working so well. Muniesa, Fontás, Jonathan... They are all having a great pre-season. Contract renewal of Guardiola coming up

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola (38) could sign a contract renewal soon.

During the tour in the United States, the Barcelona board would have held new talks with the Catalan coach, who would now seem willing to agree a new deal.

A concrete offer would have been made by the club and if Guardiola accepts that proposal, the new contract could be signed faster than expected.

Medical: Ibrahimovic joins group training tomorrow

Barcelona's medical staff has earlier today announced that Barcelona player Zlatan Ibrahimovic (27) will be able to join the group training.

Barcelona considering bids for Evans and Kompany

British tabloid The Daily Mail claims that Barcelona is considering bids for Manchester United central defender and Northern Irish international Jonny Evans and Manchester City central defender and Belgian international Vincent Kompany (23 - picture).
Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain would already had drawn up a short list of alternative candidates in case the transfer of Shaktar central defender Chygrynskiy wouldn't go through and will now try to land one of these other options before the end of the month.

Messi rejects blank cheque of Manchester City
Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Manchester City has offered Barcelona right wing attacker and Argentinian international Lionel Messi (22) a blank cheque.
Knowing that Messi will negotiate a new contract with Barcelona this summer, the English Premier League club would have contacted the entourage of the player asking them to name a price.
