Marco Borriello Tells AC Milan Boss Leonardo He's A Centre Forward
The former Genoa player would rather play in a more central role...
AC Milan played their first friendly of the pre-season on Sunday, winning 2-0 against Varese. Marco Borriello wore the number 22 shirt, recently vacated by Kaka, who left for Real Madrid earlier this summer.
"We cannot make comparisons, because it has nothing to do with Kaka," he said, according to Goal.com Italia.
"With this number two years ago I played the best season of my career in Genoa."
The Italian forward missed a majority of the 2008-09 campaign through injury, not playing in an official match since October.
"After eight months of inactivity the left leg is moving well. I played 75 minutes, it was a beautiful day."
The 27-year-old was employed in a different position than usual, taking up the right flank in a 4-3-3 formation, while Filippo Inzaghi was used in the centre and Ronaldinho on the left.
"My position on the field? Leonardo knows I am a centre-forward!"
However, the Rossoneri coach has already responded to Borriello's statement.
"The objections of Borriello playing on the right? When we are using three attackers, everyone must play a certain way. Borriello should also remember he's a centre-forward, he was playing too deep," explained the Brazilian tactician.

AC Milan Officials In Brazil To Negotiate With Hernanes - Report
The Rossoneri are already preparing for life after Andrea Pirlo as they are ready to submit a mega-bid for the Brazilian sensation...

AC Milan officials are reportedly in Sao Paulo to enter negotiations with the Brazilian champions for their star player, Hernanes.

According to sportmediaset.it, Milan's general director Ariedo Braida is currently in Brazil after ending negotiations for Andre Santos. The stumbling block in the deal is third-party ownership, as is so often the case with South American footballers.

The 23-year-old is mostly owned by Sao Paulo while Traffic hold around 17 per cent, the same group that own some of Keirrison's registration. As a result, Sao Paulo are determined not to let their man go on the cheap, as some of the fee will not end up in their hands.

A €30 million fee is thus being mooted for the midfielder, who is capable of striking the ball with both feet and playing either in front of the defence or, preferably, as an attacking midfielder.

Should Andrea Pirlo's transfer to Chelsea go ahead for the reported €25m, the Rossoneri will have plenty of cash on hand with which to buy Hernanes after the sale of Kaka to Real Madrid.

Admittedly some of the €65m was kept aside for paying off debts, but Braida may be given the green light to meet Sao Paulo's valuation and make a giant step towards the first big-money signing of the Leonardo era.

Oguchi Onyewu Sucessfully Completes AC Milan Medical - Report
The powerful defender is now ready to join his team-mates in training...
AC Milan's latest signing, Oguchi Onyewu, has successfully completed his medical, according to MilanNews.
The centre-back signed for the Rossoneri on a free-transfer after five-years with Belgian outfit Standard Liege and has passed his medical examination with flying colours.
He will now join up with his team-mates ahead of their pre-season tour of the United States, where they will play LA Galaxy, Club America, Chelsea, and city rivals Inter.
Onyewu has been the Rossoneri's only significant signing thus far in the summer of 2009 and just gave a simple "Thank you very much" to the Italian journalists present as he left the clinic.
The 27-year-old recently gained plenty of exposure at the Confederations Cup, as the USA made it to the final before losing 3-2 to Brazil in an exciting encounter in Johannesburg.

Primul ministru italian Silvio Berlusconi, proprietarul clubului de fotbal AC Milan, nu este dispus să facă mari sacrificii în politica de achiziţii a echipei sale pentru viitorul sezon, nici chiar pentru a-l aduce pe atacantul brazilian Luis Fabiano de la FC Sevilla, informează agenţia EFE.

"În privinţa lui Fabiano, nu sunt şanse ca el să vină. Ne-am axat campania de achiziţii pe jucători tineri precum Zigone şi vom continua pe linia asta. În plus, nu suntem dispuşi la gesturi demente", a declarat şeful executivului italian pentru publicaţia "Corriere dello Sport".

Declaraţiile propriterului clubului milanez pun astfel capăt optimismului privind şansele unui transfer al jucătorului brazilian manifestat de antrenorul brazilian Leonardo, dar şi de vicepreşedintele Adriano Galliani, care susţineau că Luis Fabiano este unicul obiectiv al echipei.
