Barcelona are ready to submit an offer to Liverpool for Javier Mascherano, but it still may not be enough.

According to The Times, Barca have prepared a €30 million bid, but that is unlikely to seal the deal straight away.

Liverpool are holding out for a fee closer to €40m, and it is unclear as yet whether the Blaugrana will be willing to raise their offer.

Mascherano is believed to be keen on a move to the Camp Nou, but with Xabi Alonso also in serious demand from Real Madrid, the Reds are not going to let either of their defensive midfielders go for anything less than top dollar.

Iniesta gives away Stamford Bridge boots

Barcelona player Andrés Iniesta has given away the boots he wore during the Champions League semi-fianl return game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for an lottery draw to the benefit of a five-year old child who suffers cerebral palsy and needs money for treatments in the United States.

An aunt from the boy had written Iniesta asking to sign a shirt and a poster, but in the post package she received, she also found the signed yellow boots.

Report: Barcelona Target Andre Santos After Going Nowhere With Filipe Luis
Barca are ready to shift their focus from one Brazilian left-back to another...
Barcelona have been forced to turn their attention elsewhere after failing to secure the services of Filipe Luis from Deportivo La Coruna.
After weeks of fruitless negotiations, the Blaugrana are ready to look for alternatives, and Sport has reported that they are now interested in Andre Santos.
The Corinthians left-back has become hot property in Europe after a successful Confederations Cup tournament with Brazil, with clubs such as Milan, Juventus and Roma all thought to have enquired as to his availability.
An offer of €6 million is believed to have been tabled by the lattermost, while the player himself has already declared that he would not hesitate making the jump to Europe, in particular to Serie A.
Pep Guardiola is desperate to bring in an extra left-back as a deputy for Eric Abidal following the departure of Sylvinho. The 26-year-old Santos, who has a contract with Corinthians until 2011, could be the most viable option for Barca, who have been reluctant to exceed €8m to sign Filipe from Depor.

Barcelona Creates Winners, Real Madrid Buys Them - Laporta
Barcelona do not need to spend millions and millions to have the best players in the world...
Joan Laporta has taken a dig at Real Madrid's transfer policy by stating that he thinks homegrown players are better and that Barca do not need to pay millions for their Ballon d'Or winners.
The Blaugrana president has been wholly unimpressed by Los Merengues' summer rebuilding programme that has seen them spend around €180 million on just four players.
Refusing to change his view that Madrid are an 'imperialistic' club, Laporta spelt out why he felt that Barcelona should be proud of not having gone down the same route as their arch-rivals.
"There are two models and both work," Laporta told Spanish television.
"Florentino's way is to not think about the money and ours is to work with our youth teams, and that showed that there were ten Barca products in the Champions League final squad.
"Money is not everything because having players that identify with the club is more important.
"We make Ballon d'Or winners and others have to buy them.
"It's fine by me that Real Madrid have bought Cristiano Ronaldo but at present Barcelona are the point of reference for everyone.
"Real have erupted aggressively into the transfer market and distorted reality. We could go into debt like Madrid but it isn't our way of operating.
"We already have a competitive team and all we want to do is to make some prudent investments."

Barcelona and Valencia have reached a deal that will see David Villa move to Camp Nou and are expected to make an announcement soon, Goal.com has learned.

A source close to Camp Nou has revealed exclusively to this website that the Spanish international striker has had his wish granted and he will join the European champions this summer.

Negotiations have been ongoing between Barça and Valencia and the Catalan club's president Joan Laporta even revealed that a bid had been made during a television interview on Wednesday evening.

Now Goal.com has been told that a deal has been struck and that Villa will be a Barcelona player, although no details of the fee or any of the Blaugrana's squad going in the other direction was divulged.

Laporta suggested that a offer of over €40million had been made and that, allied with los Che's new chief Vicente Soriano's promise to let the player go this year, has meant the treble winners have their man.

The arrival of Villa could speed up the departure of Samuel Eto'o, with both Manchester United and Manchester City linked with the Cameroonian striker, who was Barca's top league scorer last term.

Real Madrid opted not to pursue Villa after being told that he was not for sale and instead forked out a fee of up to €41million to sign Karim Benzema from Olympique Lyonnais.
