“Together with the club, in common agreement, we have decided to end a fantastic adventure which lasted eight years and full of satisfactions. I want to thank all those who have contributed to make this so beautiful, all those with whom I lived a long, nice and positive period. A professional rapport comes to an end, but there will always be the affection, the reciprocal respect and friendship. It’s normal to feel a bit emotional, but the time of tears is already gone.”

Milan's Adriano Galliani: Gattuso Cried For Ancelotti, Leonardo Will Do Well, Kaka Stays
The chief has given a comprehensive round-up of the club's ambitions and policies after Leonardo was unveiled as the new coach...

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has revealed that tough midfielder Gennaro Gattuso cried his eyes out for Carlo Ancelotti when the new Chelsea manager left the club.

Ancelotti's successor as coach at Milan, Leonardo, was unveiled at the San Siro and Galliani touched upon everything during the press conference. On his agenda was the team's reaction to Ancelotti leaving, the decision to bring in the Brazilian coach, as well as his stance on the Kaka exit rumours.

"We would like to thank Ancelotti for a great eight years. We knew he would be joining Chelsea, but we didn't say anything in order to protect the team," Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

"A lot of players cried when Ancelotti left, including Gattuso, he was more upset that others."

Galliani admitted that bringing in the new man was a decision which was agreed by all the parties involved beforehand.

"I want to wish Leonardo great success. The choice to bring him in as coach was a club decision," continued the chief.

"All of our decisions were made together. Leonardo was Berlusconi's, mine, and the club's choice.

"He is the right man. To be a good coach you need qualities, both human and technical, and he has these.

"Milan want to follow the road of [Fabio] Capello with Leonardo. Like Leonardo, Capello played for us, then he was a director here, and then he became coach.

"We want Leonardo to do the same. We are sure Leonardo will do great things. He is intelligent and has a good relationship with the players."

The rumour mill surrounding Kaka has been working overtime, but Galliani insists his main man will not be leaving.

"Kaka is a Milan player and he will remain so, he has not signed anything with anyone and we will resist certain clubs' attempts to land him," added the bald-headed director.

"I cannot speak about the transfer market as it starts in July and finishes in August. We have to sit down and analyse what we need first to decide on how to play. It all depends on the tactics."

So it seems Milan's transfer policies will be in line with the new coach's tactical schemes.

New AC Milan Boss Leonardo Targets Essien And Adebayor - Report
The Brazilian tactician has his eyes on two Premier League stars...

Leonardo has only been the new coach of Milan for a day, but the Brazilian has already highlighted some of the stars he wants to bring to the San Siro as the Rossoneri look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign.

With Chelsea appointing Carlo Ancelotti as their coach, it is rumoured that he will bring some of his favourite Rossoneri players with him to London and Leonardo has asked that any potential deal see Michael Essien moving in the opposite direction, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

The 26-year-old missed the first half of the season through injury, but was extremely influential upon his return, especially during Chelsea's Champions League run to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Leonardo is reportedly also interested in acquiring Arsenal hitman Emmanuel Adebayor, who has frequently been linked with the Rossoneri over the past couple of years. The Togolese striker scored 15 goals in all competitions for the Gunners this season and is viewed as the idea man to add some strength to the Milan attack.

Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani will be hoping that new coach Leonardo provides the spark that Milan have been missing, although of course it is always a risk when you appoint a young trainer with no experience. Could the Pep Guardiola formula pay dividends? In his first press conference, Leonardo revealed that his point of reference for Milan will be Brazil’s legendary 1982 World Cup team, the greatest team never to have won the World Cup. If the Rossoneri can reproduce the magic of Zico, Socrates, Falcao, Cerezo, Junior and Eder, then there really could be some great times ahead.

Leonardo has some clear ideas of what he wants from his Milan outfit. He will play with a 4-3-1-2, with the trequartista reportedly being a classical playmaker. This seems to suggest that Ronaldinho could be given a fresh start, while Kaka may indeed be on his way out of the club, suggestions that were strengthened when Leonardo did not categorically confirm that the Real Madrid-target was staying. The reports doing the rounds also imply that Leonardo may also allow Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf to leave (to Chelsea with Ancelotti), with Philippe Mexes/Diego Lugano, Juan Maldonado, Hernanes and Emmanuel Adebayor the 1998 World Cup finalist’s top targets. With so many changes having to be made to an ageing side, this will be no easy task for Leonardo.

Report: Ruler Of Dubai Wants 40 Per Cent Stake In Milan
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is allegedly planning to invest €400m to buy a stake in the club.

Renowned economic newspaper Milano Finanza today reports that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is still keen on buying a 40 per cent stake Milan.

Rumours of Sheikh Maktoum showing interest in the the club first surfaced last month after one of his sons travelled to Italy and sat next to vice president Adriano Galliani during the Rossoneri’s match with Palermo at the San Siro.

Milan swiftly moved to quash the speculation, but it will only increase again after today’s report.

It is suggested that the wealthy ruler of Dubai awaited the outcome of Milan’s final-day match with Fiorentina, which guaranteed the Rossoneri an automatic spot in next season’s Champions League, before making another approach to Fininvest, the company that directly controls the club.

Sheikh Mohammed apparently wants an initial 40 per cent stake and is ready to put €400 million on the table, with an option to completely buy out the club over the next two years.
