Milan, a club founded by the Englishman Herbert Kilpin, had not had English champions since 1987, when Ray Colin Wilkins and Mark Hateley left the the Rossoneri. Now Beckham. Second in the rankings for the Golden Ball 1999 and in the Fifa World Player rankings of 1999 and 2001, is one of the best known footballers in the world. He was inserted by Pelé in the FIFA 100, the ranking of the best footballers of all time, in 2007 he was 15th on list of most influential celebrities composed by US magazine Forbes, while Time put him in the Time 100 Heroes & Icons list. Beckham is also one of the few English players to have played more than 100 matches with the national team, of which he was captain on 58 occasions, from 15 November 2000 to 2 July 2006.
