The Sunday Times and The News Of The World claim that United have abandoned their bid for the Bulgarian after being quoted an asking price of Ј38million. That fee which would break even the British record fee they are said to be preparing to secure Carlos Tevez as Alex Ferguson looks to boost his forward line ahead of the new season. United have seen a Ј20million bid rejected for the Bulgarian, and with the valuation of the two clubs so far apart, United will apparently consider alternative options. According to the Times, those alternative options include Roque Santa Cruz, David Villa, Karim Benzema and Samuel Eto'o. Should United return with a bid closer to Ј25million then negotiations may open again, but relations between the two clubs are at something of a low after Spurs compiled a 'dossier' on United's conduct during the transfer. ======================================================= TEVEZ REJECTS REAL INTEREST Carlos Tevez rejected overtures from Real Madrid this summer because he was happy to commit his future to Manchester United. Tevez will sign a four-year contract with United at some point over the next couple of months now talks over his ownership have been concluded. The Red Devils have agreed a Ј33million fee with Tevez's owners, who are no longer MSI, for the Argentina forward. "Carlos Tevez's economic rights are owned by a third party, based offshore but this is not MSI," confirmed Tevez's long-time advisor Kia Joorabchian. Tevez's initial arrival at Old Trafford was dragged out almost until the start of last season as the Premier League satisfied themselves over a loan deal for the striker, even though it was almost identical to the one which saw Javier Mascherano leave West Ham for Liverpool. But the 24-year-old created a hugely favourable impression at United, leaving Sir Alex Ferguson in no doubt he wanted to sign the player permanently. Now that move is almost complete, although not without some interest from elsewhere. While there has been no comment from Joorabchian or United, it is believed two clubs approached the South American, one of whom was Real Madrid. Joorabchian, though, did say: "We will help him accelerate the deal to make sure it goes through. "Everyone's keen to make sure his future is dealt with in the correct way. "He's won 11 major titles and he's only 24 - but winning the Champions League meant the most to him - he's extremely proud to win that with Manchester United. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world." Joorabchian also moved to clarify Tevez's position on Cristiano Ronaldo. Tevez was quoted earlier in the week claiming his United team-mate should be allowed to join Real Madrid if he wishes. However, Joorabchian explained: "Carlos isn't the type to talk about other players or their futures. "He said that Cristiano has to make up his own mind and that it's up to him - obviously we want him to stay but if he wants to leave there's nothing we can do.
