Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney says teammate Cristiano Ronaldo deserved the World Player of the Year award last season ahead of winner Kaka of AC Milan.

"I am convinced that last season Cristiano Ronaldo deserved the Ballon d'Or," said Rooney.

"Kaka only won it because Milan won the Champions League.

"Ronaldo has incredible talent, and what he has done for United in these last two years is simply tremendous. Of course I want to be as good as him, I train every day for this."

ARSENAL WILL FINALLY GET THEIR MAN
This rumour has been dragging around for about a week but the Sunday Telegraph is convinced that Arsenal will finalise the Ј11m signing of French Samir Nasri from Marseille early next week.

According to the paper, the 20-year-old is being purchased as a replacement for the want-away Alex Hleb. The French press have been depicting the transfer as a done deal for several days, and Nasri's France team-mate Franck Ribery is quoted as confirming that the youngster is heading to the Emirates: "It's good for him. This is a good club with a lot of young players, but the English Premier League is completely different, difficult to adapt to. It is a pity that Samir left Marseille, he's been there all of his footballing career. But it was important for him to see something else."

The Mail on Sunday also believes that Nasri is joining Arsenal. However, they also claim the Gunners have begun 'negotiations to take St Etienne midfielders Mouhamadou Dabo and Blaise Matuidi to London' and 'Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez is being lined up should Emmanuel Adebayor continue to demand Ј80,000 a week'.

There's also renewed speculation that Lille's defensive midfielder Jean Makoun is attracting interest from Arsenal.

POOL GO IN SEARCH OF A WINGER
Each of the three major Sunday tabs are linking Liverpool with a winger. None of whom are the same.

Let's begin with the News of the World. It reckons that Pool are 'completing a Ј13million double swoop for Italian defender Andrea Dossena and Spain and Espanyol left winger Albert Riera.'

If we tell you that Riera is rated at Ј5m then we are reasonably confident you should be able to work out how much Dossena would cost.

The People, however, claims that Rafa Benitez 'will make a Ј12million bid to sign England star David Bentley from Blackburn - and be told to come back with more cash.'

In short, Rovers want around Ј15m for the England winger - a sum that may be too much for Benitez to countenance even after selling Jermaine Pennant.

The Sunday Mirror, on the other hand, announces that 'Liverpool have made a sensational swoop for Portsmouth's Ј15million-rated Niko Kranjcar.

'Manager Rafa Benitez is trying to tie Kranjcar into a deal that has already been agreed for Peter Crouch to move back to the South Coast side this summer from Anfield.

'Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has fixed an Ј8m fee for Crouch, but Benitez now wants to offer his bean-pole striker plus cash to lure the 23-year-old Croatian away from Fratton Park.'

MORENO TO SNUB SPURS?
Bolivian forward Marcelo Moreno is deciding whether to move to Tottenham Hotspur or Shakhtar Donetsk, according to the player's father.

The Cruzeiro striker's performances in the Copa Libertadores, where he has scored eight goals, apparently piqued the interest of Roma, Shakhtar and Tottenham.

Reports in the Bolivian press suggest that, with an initial bid from Spurs turned down, Moreno was in Donetsk pondering a move to Shakhtar - but a second offer from the London club has complicated matters.

Meanwhile, according to The News of the World, Juande Ramos wants to sign Sevilla's Adriano Correia for Ј8m.

'Korean left-back Lee Young Pyo is tipped to leave White Hart Lane and head back to the Far East before next season, while rising star Gareth Bale is still recovering from a long-term foot injury,' it adds as way of explanation.

DROGBA TO REJECT REAL FOR MILAN
Didier Drogba has rejected a move to Real Madrid and remains intent on joining AC Milan.

If the Mail on Sunday is to be believed then the Ivorian's agent met with Real's sporting director Predrag Mijatovic last week but the striker is holding out for a move to Milan - preferably with AC rather than Inter.

The Bosman Team for season 2007/08 has been finalised. Admittedly it's quite late this year, meaning a lot of possible additions have already sorted out their futures.

Olof Mellberg is moving from Aston Villa to Juventus, Mathieu Flamini has decided to quit Arsenal and join AC Milan, whilst Wes Brown signed a new deal at Manchester United.

Even today, right-back Phillip Degen agreed to a transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Liverpool.

Avem 3 portari valorosi si Valencia nu ar avea nici cea mai mica sansa sa joace in actualul lot!

Chiar si pe partea dreapta a apararii se poate de lasat asa cum este.Brown,dupa accidentarea lui G.Neville,a jucat tot mai bine si mai bine si a capatat o forma de invidiat,isi face treaba cu brio! Asa ca practic singurul transfer de care avem nevoie e Huntelaar!
