27-летний Глеб, чей контракт с «канонирами» истекает только через два года, полон решимости уйти из «Арсенала». Об этом в интервью для белорусского журнала «Прессбол» заявил агент футболиста Николай Шпилевский.

«В данный момент Александр готов принять самое серьезное решение в своей жизни. Он покинет «Арсенал» даже в том случае, если клуб предложит ему лучшие условия и новый контракт. По большому счету, его уход – лишь дело времени. Конечно, только будущее покажет, правы были мы или нет, но я считаю, что пути назад не существует. В любом случае, ситуация должна проясниться в ближайшие пару недель».

ARSENE WENGER says Alexander Hleb is staying at Arsenal and vowed he will have a team to battle all the way for the Premier League title next year.

For a man whose playing empire looks like crumbling from within, Wenger looked relaxed and bullish yesterday – despite claims from Hleb’s agent the midfielder will be off, with Inter Milan favourites to sign him.

Not even the notion Hleb, 27, could invoke the Webster clause and buy out the remaining two years of his Gunners deal cut any ice with Frenchman Wenger, who is clearly prepared to play hard-ball, and long-term, with Hleb.

Goalkeeper Jens Lehmann and midfielder Mathieu Flamini have gone after their deals expired, but Wenger declared “98 per cent” of the squad would remain.

Speaking before their final Premier League match at Sunderland, Wenger said: “The rest are all under contract. If anybody wants to buy a player he has to call me. Maybe some ignore I have a phone.”

But what about Hleb buying out his contract? Wenger said: “That is not as simple as it looks, this Webster clause. And you should not forget, what clubs can do to us, we can do to them.
“You can’t come in next day and buy [the contract] out. You have to go to tribunal, to go first to FIFA and, if you don’t agree with FIFA, to have to go to ACAS.

“It takes months. You can be banned for the whole period if it’s not done in a proper way.”

And, when Wenger was asked if he would make it hard for Hleb to go, he added: “For me nobody goes, it’s as simple as that. I have a responsibility. It is not what I like, it is not what the players like, it is what’s good for the club.

“If you have a choice between three million people are happy or one is happy, the choice is made quickly.”

Theo Walcott is a changed player, according to Arsène Wenger.

The 19-year-old striker has had an excellent end to the season and capped a fine individual display with the winner at Sunderland on Sunday.

Walcott is increasingly influential as a starter these days; a far cry from his role as impact substitute at the beginning of the season.

"I think he started as a promising young player and he finished it as a guy who can fight for a regular place in the side," said Wenger after the win at the Stadium of Light.

"The next step for him is to be a player who can produce regular performances and efficiency. I am very hopeful he can be that.

"Sometimes he can be too much 'in and out' of the game still but we have seen when he is in, he is completely in now."

Kiar daca au obtzinut locul 3 oricum sunt bravo....cu o medie a virstei de 22.3 ani (fara rezerve) sa atingi 83 pct shi sa pierzi un campionat doar cu 4 pct e un succes foarte mare....Sezonul viitor e al NOSTRU !!!

Arsenal linked with Barcelona’s Toure
With Flamini leaving the club in the summer for AC Milan, Arsenal has a defensive gap to fill in their midfield. Arsenal have set their sights on Kolo Toure’s younger brother, Yaya, who currently plays for Barcelona.

Having signed from AS Monaco last summer, the 24-year old Yaya has been one of Barcelona’s better player all throughout the season.

Wenger is said to be willing to offer €10million for the star midfielder, and he hopes that Yaya will become the “new” Patrick Viera of his side.
