#10826 Enumaelish, de ce zici aşa? Atît timp cît confruntarea nu degenerează, totul e super. Dar cînd încep să fie folosite înjurături şi insulte, cum se întîmplă de obicei, atunci deja totul e fără sens.

Nani makes apology for headbutt

Nani was sent off following a clash with defender Neill

Manchester United's Nani has apologised for the headbutt on Lucas Neill that resulted in the winger being sent off in Saturday's 4-1 win over West Ham.

Nani may face internal disciplinary action on top of a three-match ban for the 37th-minute dismissal and left Old Trafford before the end of the game.

"I recognise that my action was a thoughtless one but I also have to say I was provoked and attacked," he said.

"I know it serves as no excuse but that's exactly what happened."

Nani's dismissal does not rule him out of the Champions League final on 21 May when United will play Chelsea.

"I regret having done what I did and I have to be thankful for the fact that my team-mates secured a win, which was extremely important to us," he added.

"I want to publicly ask for forgiveness, firstly of my team-mates, who were forced into a greater effort during more than 60 minutes, then secondly of my manager and coaches and thirdly of the United fans, who have given me so much affection."

Nani tried to justify his early exit from the ground after being sent off but is aware he made a mistake.

"Believe me, it was difficult," he stated. "At that moment I only wanted to disappear. That was what I did. I also ask forgiveness of the fans and the club for that.

"On Tuesday, I'll be in the changing room to redeem myself for my mistake."

Russia gives fans visa reprieve

Match tickets for the Champions League final are hot property

Russia has waived normal visa requirements for a 72-hour period for football fans with a ticket for the Champions League final in Moscow.

More than 42,000 Chelsea and Manchester United fans are set to attend the match at the the Luzhniki Stadium on 21 May.

And the visa exemption will apply between 19 and 23 May.

Michel Platini, president of European football's governing body Uefa, has thanked the Russian government for an "unprecedented gesture".

Supporters will need to present a valid match ticket, a valid passport, and a completed immigration form upon arrival in Russia, Uefa has confirmed.

Anyone overstaying the 72-hour entry period will then have to pay the fee for a regular visa when leaving the country.

"This is great news for football fans travelling to watch this year's UEFA Champions League final in Moscow," said Platini.

"Our job is to make sure that they are able to get to and from Moscow as easily as possible.

"I am therefore extremely pleased that at my request, all fans travelling with a valid match ticket can use this to enter Russian territory.

"For this I must thank wholeheartedly the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, the Russian government, the city of Moscow and the Football Union of Russia for this exceptional and unprecedented gesture."

Manchester United and Chelsea officials met with Russian match organisers in Moscow last Thursday to discuss the situtation, with supporters of both clubs eagerly waiting for an announcement since they qualified for the final.

The move will alleviate a huge burden on the Russian National Tourist Office in London, which has been handling visas on behalf of the Russian Embassy in Britain for the Champions League final.

Fans without a ticket, hoping to travel independently, should be able to have their visas processed in plenty of time - though the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised supporters not to travel "if they do not have a ticket or accommodation beforehand".

Both clubs have been given 21,000 tickets each for the final at the Luzhniki Stadium, where the capacity is being set specifically at 69,500.

Ferguson piles stress on Chelsea

Michael Carrick scores the Man utd winner

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Newcastle could cause an upset against Chelsea on Monday.

United moved within touching distance of the title after a comfortable 4-1 win over West Ham at Old Trafford.

Chelsea need at least a point against Newcastle to retain any hopes of pipping Sir Alex Ferguson's side to the Premier League title.

"The way Chelsea have been talking is that it'll be easy up there - but we know that's not the case," he said.

United are three points ahead of Chelsea with a superior goal difference but have played a game more.

They face Wigan away on the final day of the season.

Chelsea play Newcastle at St James' Park on Monday before playing Bolton at home on 11 May.

A win against Wigan next week, or any slip ups by Chelsea in their last two games, will secure a second successive title for Ferguson's side.

"We have not won anything yet but we hope we can win the league next week," added Ferguson.

"There was a bit of nervousness in our play at times but we killed the game in the second half to continue what has been a fantastic season so far."

Ferguson praised Cristiano Ronaldo, whose first-half double took him to 40 for the season and left him just one adrift of Alan Shearer's 31-goal Premier League record.

"How many players could score that many?" said the United boss. "He is improving all the time. Plus he has spent 90% of the season on the wing."

United had Nani red carded for a headbutt on Hammers defender Lucas Neill but rarely looked like dropping points in their last home game of the season.

"It's been a great day for us and we've got a big chance," added Ferguson.

"Our players have been absolutely fantastic this season.

"We were down to 10 men and I said to try to run the clock down, keep possession and be patient in the second half and I'm very pleased because there was a bit of tiredness."

Ferguson admitted the referee had no option but to send off Nani, adding: "There is no excuse. He showed a measure of immaturity and we will deal with it."

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley refused to speak after the game, but assistant Mervyn Day played down comments which seemed to suggest the Hammers boss wanted United to win the league in preference to Chelsea.

"He tried to qualify some of his comments," said Day. "He felt Manchester United would be unlucky if they did not win the league, given they have been so dominant.

"I don't think he said he wanted them to win.

"I know Alan thinks a lot of Sir Alex but that goes out the window when you cross the white line."

Schmeichel tips Man Utd for title

Schmeichel won the Premier League title five times

Former Manchester United keeper Peter Schmeichel is tipping his former club to pip Chelsea to the Premier League title - but only on goal difference.

Schmeichel won the title five times at Old Trafford and was part of the 1999 treble-winning side.

United lead Chelsea on goal difference with two games left this season.

Schmeichel told BBC Sport: "I think the two teams will match each other's results, and not necessarily with each of them winning their last two games."

United and Chelsea also face each other in the Champions League final in Moscow on 21 May as well as battling it out for the Barclays Premier League.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side face West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime while Chelsea travel to Newcastle on Monday.

And Schmeichel added: "I'm not surprised it is such a tight finish. In fact I fully expected it to be tighter because I expected Arsenal to still be involved - I suppose theoretically they still are but realistically it is between Chelsea and United.

"There are still tough games to be played. I remember only too well how West Ham denied us the league at Upton Park in 1995, and Chelsea travel to a Newcastle team who have come into some form now."

Schmeichel admits he was surprised by Ferguson's team selection in the defeat at Chelsea last Saturday, but believes it was a sign of the Scot's gambler's streak.

He said: "I went ballistic when I saw the team and that's talking as a fan. I wanted United to finish the league there and then and I wanted United to end Chelsea's phenomenal home record - but when I saw the team I knew it could be a long day.

"But Sir Alex is a clever man. He is a gambler, but not in a bad sense. He will have calculated scenarios. So he will have played a team that he knows runs the risk of being beaten by Chelsea, but he is prepared to run that risk.

"He knows goal difference is worth an extra point, he knows he can beat West Ham and Wigan, but he also knows he wants to win the Champions League and wants all his best players fit.

"So I expect United to win the league on goal difference and if they do they will be worthy winners. There has never been an unworthy winner of that title."

Former Chelsea defender Graeme Le Saux is clinging to the hope that his old club can snatch the title away from Old Trafford - but admits the odds are in United's favour.

Le Saux, who like Schmeichel is an ambassador for Premier League sponsors Barclays, told BBC Sport: "It has been an incredible achievement by Chelsea's backroom staff and all the team to go through such a difficult transition and still maintain a fabulous home record, peg back Manchester United and reach the Champions League final.

"I obviously hope they can win the Premier League, but I do say that more in hope than expectation because the advantage is with Manchester United because of their superior goal difference.

"Chelsea know they have to win two league games. That's all they can do because whatever Manchester United do is out of their control."

Chelsea boss Avram Grant, meanwhile, has expressed his disappointment at comments from West Ham counterpart Alan Curbishley after he claimed it would be an injustice if United did not win the title.

Curbishley takes his team to United on Saturday, and Grant said: "Look, I'm not doubting the integrity of West Ham. I don't have a reason to doubt the integrity of Alan Curbishley.

"But I think it's wrong to say things like this because he's involved in the games against United. West Ham won against them in the last three games.

"I don't think it's a good idea to say things like this. I cannot be angry. I will not be angry.

"I do not know what to say about these things, but I think it's wrong. But I do not have any reason to doubt the integrity of him or his club."

Transfer Rumours: May 08
As the season comes to a close, the tabloids are already speculating as to the extent of United's potential summer transfer activity.

The Reds have long been linked with reinforcements upfront, but for the first time West Ham striker Dean Ashton's name has been thrown into the mix.

The Daily Star claim that Sir Alex Ferguson wants a burly striker to boost his forward line's physical presence, and the form of Hammers striker Ashton has apparently caught his eye.
