is the nickname of a robot built by the Pittsburgh-based Westinghouse Electric Corporation in its Mansfield, Ohio facility between 1937 and 1938. Seven feet tall, weighing 265 pounds, humanoid in appearance, he could walk by voice command, speak about 700 words (using a 78-rpm record player), smoke cigarettes, blow up balloons, and move his head and arms. Elektro's body consisted of a steel gear, cam and motor skeleton covered by an aluminum skin. His photoelectric "eyes" could distinguish red and green light. He was on exhibit at the 1939 New York World's Fair and reappeared at that fair in 1940, with "Sparko", a robot dog that could bark, sit, and beg.
Elektro toured North America in 1950 in promotional appearances for Westinghouse, and was displayed at Pacific Ocean Park in Venice, California in the late fifties and early sixties. He also appeared as "Thinko", in a 1960 film, Sex Kittens Go to College, which starred Mamie Van Doren and Tuesday Weld. In the 1960s, his head was given to a retiring Westinghouse engineer and his body was sold for scrap.[citation needed]
In 1992, the dance band Meat Beat Manifesto produced the song "Original Control (Version 2)" which prominently featured snippets of Elektro's monologues, quoting lines such as "I am Elektro" and "My brain is bigger than yours".

(from French danser, perhaps from Frankish) is an art form that generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music,[1] used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting.
Dance may also be regarded as a form of nonverbal communication between humans, and is also performed by other animals (bee dance, patterns of behaviour such as a mating dance). Gymnastics, figure skating and synchronized swimming are sports that incorporate dance, while martial arts kata are often compared to dances. Motion in inanimate objects may also be described as dances (the leaves danced in the wind), and certain musical forms or genres.
Definitions of what constitutes dance are dependent on social, cultural, aesthetic, artistic and moral constraints and range from functional movement (such as folk dance) to virtuoso techniques such as ballet. Dance can be participatory, social or performed for an audience. It can also be ceremonial, competitive or erotic. Dance movements may be without significance in themselves, such as in ballet or European folk dance, or have a gestural vocabulary/symbolic system as in many Asian dances. Dance can embody or express ideas, emotions or tell a story.
Dancing has evolved many styles. Breakdancing and Krumping are related to the hip hop culture. African dance is interpretive. Ballet, Ballroom, Waltz, and Tango are classical styles of dance while Square and the Electric Slide are forms of step dances.
Every dance, no matter what style, has something in common. It not only involves flexibility and body movement, but also physics. If the proper physics is not taken into consideration, injuries may occur..

Următorul curent important din istoria muzicii rock este subgenul psihedelic, ca reacţie faţă de criza spirituală a societăţilor consumiste occidentale (Europa, S.U.A.). Se caută o expresie mai cuprinzătoare atât ca formă, cât şi ca mesaj, în acelaşi timp viabilă la contactul cu publicul larg. Se împrumută mult din alte genuri muzicale, instrumentaţia este mult mai bogată şi cuprinde efecte sonore nemaiauzite; o zonă de influenţă preferată de mulţi este Orientul, sub forma muzicii arăbeşti, indiene sau – cu mult mai rar – a culturilor din Orientul Îndepărtat (China, Japonia, Indonezia). Ca reprezentanţi ar fi de amintit The Doors, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, The Velvet Underground, parţial The Beach Boys (S.U.A.), Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Who, dar şi deja cunoscuţii The Beatles, aflaţi într-o a doua etapă de creaţie, desfăşurată după jumătatea anilor şaizeci (formaţiile citate provin din peisajul britanic). Tot din Marea Britanie, trebuie amintită comparativ formaţia The Kinks, care a „sfidat” curentul psihedelic şi a prefigurat alte zone ale muzicii rock din anii şaptezeci.
Influenţa muzicii rock cunoaşte un moment semnificativ în anul vara lui 1969, când cinci sute de mii de oameni iau parte la Festivalul de la Woodstock.
La începutul anilor 1970, muzica rock psihedelic îşi schimbă treptat orientarea, fiind construită în jurul unui public tot mai specializat, dezvoltând un limbaj rafinat, depărtându-se de „populismul” şi iraţionalitatea muzicii psihedelice (adeseori alimentată de experienţele psihedelice – de unde şi numele – provocate de consumul de droguri). Se elaborează o muzică, intitulată rock progresiv, ce face adeseori apel la mijloacele muzicii culte (înţeleasă de muzicienii rock în chipuri mai mult sau mai puţin oportune, ceea ce aduce la o atitudine rezervată din partea mediului muzical academic). Este epoca unei mari diversificări stilistice, a momentelor instrumentale solistice extinse (aducând cu desfăşurările de acest fel din lumea muzicii de jazz). Se cuvin amintiţi ca promotori ai acestui stil: Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Van der Graaf Generator, Renaissance (Marea Britanie), Amon Düül II, Can (Germania), Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa şi The Mothers of Invention, Kansas (S.U.A.), Rush (Canada) şi mulţi alţii.
Curentul se schimbă drastic din punct de vedere formal în a doua jumătate a anilor şaptezeci şi va deschide drumul altor genuri muzicale, fie mai atractive pentru public (este cazul formaţiilor britanice Yes şi Genesis, care se îndreaptă către un sunet pop după anul 1982), fie reformulate la periferia contextului rock (jazz-rock, rock experimental ş.a.).
