No last-minute transfers planned
Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo reclaims that, without surprises, Barcelona won't sign another player during the summer transfer window that closes today.

Since Barcelona hasn't been able to sign Guardiola's first choices Robinho and Mascherano for the left wing and the defensive midfield positions, the B plan would be to count on the youth players and the club won't try to improvise some last-minute transfer.

Laporta on Robinho, Gudjohnsen and Henrique
Speaking to Spanish television channel TVE, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has commented on the latest transfer rumours and events.

Robinho
"It was a good option to complete the squad. We have a good relationships with the owners of Manchester City but there's nothing concrete regarding signing Robinho for the 2009-2010 season."

Gudjohnsen and Henrique
"I can confirm that there are very little details left to close the exits of both players, Gudjohnsen to Monaco and Henrique to Racing Santander."

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola commented on some players.

"The only thing Ibra needs is time. It's a great player who didn't take part in the pre-season. But as he is so good, he won't have any problems."

"It's a great transfer for us, but you will see it when he'll play. Barcelona option for left back Jose Enrique
Speaking to North East England regional newspaper Sunday Sun, Newcastle United left back defender José Enrique Sánchez (23) has said that he doesn't plan to leave the English club:

"All the time I read in the papers that I will go here or there, but I'm happy here. I want to get this club back into the Premier League because I think we can get back there.

I listen to talk about a lot of players coming and going but I want to stay. Everything here is great, except we now play in the Championship! I was happy at Villarreal but I preferred to sign for Newcastle. They offered me a better contract and there were many famous names here, Michael Owen, Oba Martins and others.

I thought I would be playing Champions League football here, now I play in the Championship. It's strange! But I like to think I can still play in the Champions League one day with Newcastle. Yes, I'm like any other player: if Barcelona came for me, of course I would want to go.

In reality though, I want to play for Newcastle, and I know that if I want to play in the Champions League, we'll have to get back to the Premier League. Of course, we have to get out of the Championship first, and the teams in this division play a different type of football.

The Premier League is a harder challenge, but this is a different challenge. There are more quick balls played straight up to the strikers. It's similar to the Premier League in some ways, but with worse players. We have a similar team here to last year, and our players are better than other players in the Championship, so I think we can get promoted."

OFFICIAL: Henrique to Racing on loan
Racing Santander has today officially announced the transfer of Barcelona central defender Henrique Adriano Buss (22).

The Brazilian centre-back will join the Spanish first division club on a one-year loan.

Henrique joined Barcelona in the summer of 2008 and played last season on loan with German first division club Bayer Leverkusen.

Pique, Marquez, Puyol, Milito... astai noi avem puţin apărători ? nio trebuit nouă tare Cigrinski... plus k la anu vin Caceres ş Henrique... 7 apărători ? asta cruta... luînd în consideraţie k Pep o spus k vre un lot mai restrîns (vreo 16-17 jucători...)
