Thousands evacuated from gambling mecca as state of emergency is declared

A massive inferno burning across the mountains of northwest Nevada has evacuated thousands from the area to residents horror as firefighters fight for the many homes and potential lives swept up in the blaze.
Police in Reno went house to house in the middle of the night, pounding on doors and telling residents they had to evacuate as a roughly 400-acre blaze raged in rough terrain, destroyed homes and injured some people.
One man suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while evacuating.

EU budget grows 2pc in victory for austerity

The deal was seen as a victory for cash-strapped capitals grappling with Europe's debt crisis, which had opposed demands by EU lawmakers to increase the budget by more than 5pc.
But some EU officials said limiting the budget rise to forecast inflation for next year could leave the bloc unable to pay its bills and threaten the EU budget's AAA credit rating.
"This is clearly an austerity budget, as most member states are in the midst of a serious financial crisis," said EU Budget Commissioner Janusz Lewandowski, who had originally proposed a five percent rise in spending in 2012.

Iti pare ca aici stau copii mici si prosti, care nu tin minte vremurile sovietice si tu poti sa-i manipulezi dupa cum vrei. PERSONAL tin minte un caz, si acum imi amintesc limpede - stateam în 1987 intrun rand de ~60 metri ca sa cumpar paine (de 16 capisci cum ziceti voi) cate 3 ore. De mentionat ca era unicul magazin intrun sat de 8000 de oameni. Asa ca lasa aberatiile tale cu jeansi levi's. Lumea cat de cat castiga bani, dar nu avea ce sa faca cu ei.

DNA evidence is widely accepted in courtrooms. And now, so is our "Digital DNA" -- those trace zeroes and ones we leave behind on computer systems, in our smartphones, beneath the hoods of our cars and more.
"Digital evidence is the new DNA," Ira Victor, a forensic analyst with Data Clone Labs and a member of The High Tech Crime Investigator's Association (HTCIA), told FoxNews.com.
Last week the Supreme Court took a first stab at addressing how such evidence can be used, hearing arguments from the Justice Department defending the use of GPS devices planted on suspects' vehicles. But that's just one aspect of a growing body of data: From digital photographs to cellphones to emails and Word documents, we all create a trail that law enforcement agencies are increasingly using to put crooks at the scene of their crime.

Ştirile gen e ziua lui Ghimpu, ce a mai făcut Filat sau Voronin, personal pe mine nu mă interesează. Tu la calculator stai? stai! Muzică de pe diverse site-uri încarci, încarci! La smartphone visezi? visezi! e util să ai un smartphone sau nu [...] crezi că da. Pe site-urile de specializare ţi se va pune toată ramura de marketing pe urechi, tu vei crede? da! de ce? deoarece n-ai citit spam-ul meu!

SOPA’s ugly message to the world about America and internet Innovation

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) has a seemingly odd collection of interest groups,
including the entertainment industry and leading social media companies, pitted against eachother. (FRED PROUSER - REUTERS)

Imagine a country where the government is able to shut down Web sites at the slightest provocation, where elected representatives invoke fears of "overseas pirates" to defend the interests of domestic industries, and where Internet companies like Google must cave in to the demands of government censors or risk being shut down.

No, we are not talking about China, North Korea or Iran — we are talking about the United States, where legislators in both the House and Senate are attempting to push through new anti-piracy legislation by year-end that would benefit Hollywood at the expense of Silicon Valley.

Unlike other, more confusing efforts to regulate the relationship between content providers and other Web sites, opposition to the new Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) legislation has led to a unified front within the tech community. Some of the most powerful players in Silicon Valley — Google, Facebook, Zynga, eBay, Twitter, Yahoo, and LinkedIn — have made their opposition to the bill public, even going so far as to take out full-page advertisements ("We Stand Together to Protect Innovation") explaining their position. Companies like Tumblr and Reddit that benefit from user-generated content have gone one step further, with highly publicized efforts to show users why it is important to speak out against SOPA.
