Developer-ul suedez DICE a confirmat lucrul la proiectul Battlefield 3, ce va apărea în toamna anului 2011 pentru PC, XBOX360 și Playstation. Deși PC gamer-ii aveau o oarecare frică ca jocul să fie consolizat, developer-ii au anunțat pe twitter că accentul va fi pus pe PC. Sequelul va fi construit pe baza Frostbite 2 engine (față de Bad Company 2 ce dispunea de engine-ul Frostbite 1.5) astfel vom avea parte de un realism sporit datorită tehnologiilor integrate, precum deferred rendering şi real-time radiosity. Jocul va fi optimizat pentru procesoarele multi-core și sistemele de operare x64, ceea ce va permite reintroducerea jocurilor 32 la 32 (numai la PC). Printre alte informații divulgate se enumeră reintroducerea unor elemente precum fighter jet-urile și poziția culcat (prone). Un nou sistem de animații va permite montarea armelor în orice loc al map-ului, precum și cărarea jucatorilor raniți la siguranță.

hi all, nu am jucat niciodata bf3, si ma gindesc sa-l cumpar dar nu m-am inca ce fel de editie, adica ma gindeam sa cumpar standard edition, ma voi acomoda/invata iar apoi celelalte pack-uri sau premium? stiu ca premium va avea acces la beta bf4 dar totusi
