Zidane tips Ronaldo for Real move

Zidane expects Ronaldo to break his world transfer fee record

France legend Zinedine Zidane believes Real Madrid will end up signing Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Spanish giants have made no secret of their desire to sign the 23-year-old Portuguese winger, despite United's insistence they will not sell.

"Every time Madrid want good players they get them," said former Real star Zidane, in Vienna for Euro 2008.

"He's had a great season, and he's a Champions League winner, and if he wants to play there, then he can."

Zidane cost £45.8m when he moved from Juventus to Real Madrid in 2001.

That fee remains a world record for a player, but the Frenchman, 36 on Monday, thinks Real Madrid could possibly have to spend more than that to land Ronaldo.

And he said he would be happy to no longer be the world's most expensive footballer.

"If he goes to Madrid, it will be a big amount, but Madrid is ready to pay far more than they paid for me," said Zidane.

"This will actually lift a weight from my shoulders. Hopefully they will pay more for Ronaldo than they did for me."

Zidane, who retired from international football after the 2006 World Cup, said that he had been impressed with Russia's Andrei Arshavin during Euro 2008 so far.

"When you see their number 10 it is great," Zidane said.

"What he does at this stage is more difficult than a World Cup because it's the first big tournament he has played in.

"I was very happy to see that type of football played. He has great feet."

Zidane, who was in Vienna with manufacturers Adidas for a coaching clinic for children, confirmed that he wants to return to football but stressed that he had no imminent plans to do so.

Dupa cite au facut MU si mai ales Ferguson pentru Ronaldo, si el sa se poarte acum asa, cu astfel de replici...Multi jucatori mari s-au despartiti de cluburilor lor, insa fara scandal si relatii stricate.

Arshavin: "I want Spain move"

Russia forward Andrei Arshavin says he will snub offers from England and Germany in order to secure a move to Spain.

Arshavin has emerged as the star of Euro 2008 following his stunning performance in Russia's quarter-final win over Holland.

He missed the opening two matches of the tournament through suspension but produced an influential display in the final group game against Sweden.

The playmaker impressed for Zenit St Petersburg last season and is tipped to leave the UEFA Cup winners at the end of the European Championship.

Zenit coach Dick Advocaat conceded last week that the 27-year-old wants to move on and a clutch of clubs have been linked with a £10million-plus bid.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Manchester City and Newcastle have all been mooted as admirers of Arshavin, while Barcelona are rumoured to see him as an ideal replacement for Deco.

Arshavin admits it may be time to leave Russian football and claims his dream would be to join a Spanish club.

"Perhaps the time has come, yes," Arshavin told AS when asked whether he would move to another European league.

"I know that I have offers from England and Germany, but what I really want is to play in the Primera Liga.

"It's the championship that I have always followed, I like how football is played there. But for now, I have no offers from Spain."

The schemer's international team-mate Roman Pavlyuchenko has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Arshavin feels there are many more Russia players who will have caught the eye at Euro 2008.

He added: "There are many good players in my country, but people are now discovering us.

"It's not only me. This tournament is an opportunity for us."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had earlier given his biggest indication yet he was set to make a move for Arshavin.

"The eye is always looking at who can strengthen Arsenal," Wenger said in the Daily Express.

"You always think, 'could this player play for your team?' or perhaps there is a good player you didn't know.

"Mainly I would say that you discovered only Russian players at this tournament because you see them playing less. All the others you know."

Cum poti tu sa spui ca vrei sa joci in campionatul spaniol, cind EPL este in top deja de vre-o 2-3 ani? Ce mare concurenta este in Spania? Real, Barca, Sevilla, Villareal?
