The Arsenal directors have warmed to American sports tycoon Stan Kroenke and are considering inviting him onto the board.

According to The Independent newspaper, Arsenal are increasingly impressed by US businessman Stan Kroenke, who holds a 12 per cent stake in the club, and are keen to foster closer relationships with him.

Kroenke has signed up to the directors' 'lock-down' agreement over share sales - which effectively prevents the club being taken over before 2012 - although there is a termination clause in October 2010.

Kroenke, with interests in ice hockey, basketball and American football, has apparently been working hard to develop a marketing relationship with Arsenal Football Club.

Although it is considered unlikely that he will be offered a place on the board in the near future, he has built up trust with the club - in contrast to Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov - and could well be invited to join before the end of this year.

Meanwhile, the Gunners appear to have ruled out appointing a new director of football to work alongside manager Arsene Wenger and assist the Frenchman in transfer negotiations.

However, The Independent says the club are reviewing whether or not they need to add more than just one new person to their executive team following the abrupt departure of managing director Keith Edelman last week.

Rosicky could return for Gunners in time for new season

TOMAS Rosicky could be back in training with Arsenal in time for next season.

The Gunners playmaker (pictured) missed the second half of the season with a nagging knee injury, and is out of the Czech Republic's Euro 2008 campaign next month.

But he underwent surgery in London on Tuesday and has been told he can return to training in eight to ten weeks time.

Rosicky said on his personal website: "I am glad that the true cause of my problems has been found and I hope that I will be fit and could start training as soon as possible."

Czech doctor Vladislav Hospodar, who assisted the surgery, is hopeful that Rosicky's knee problem - which saw doctors stabilise the ligament by two titanium anchors - will not resurface.

Hospodar said: "Now it is properly fixed to restore all the functions, and after the rehabilitation, the problems should be gone."

Полузащитник Арсенала Александр Глеб заявил, что не будет пользоваться статьей 17 регламента ФИФА.
Глеб за два года до истечения срока своего пятилетнего соглашения имеет право выкупить оставшуюся часть контракта и быть проданным за фиксированную сумму, которая будет явно меньше 11,2 млн. фунтов, заплаченных Арсеналом в 2005 году немецкому Штутгарту.

Агент игрока Николай Шпилевский, который собственно и озвучил этот вариант сегодня признался, что полузащитник не хочет подобным образом "кидать" клуб: "Саша - джентльмен, поэтому не опустится до этого уровня".

Что же, если Глеб действительно хочет уйти, ему придется надеятся на то, что Арсенал согласится на те деньги, которые ему предложит потенциальный покупатель (читай, Интер).
