Both sides have shrugged off concerns about the pitch, which has been called "disappointing" by the groundsman. Chelsea are confident Ashley Cole will overcome an ankle problem but Sir Alex Ferguson's side have no injury worries. United are seeking their third triumph in the competition, while Chelsea have never made it this far before. The final falls 50 years after the Munich air crash claimed the lives of 23 people, including eight United players.  And United, who won the European Cup in 1968 and 1999, will be hoping to mark the anniversary by lifting the greatest prize in European club football. Much of the attention in the build-up to the game has focused on the condition of the pitch. The old synthetic surface was ripped up after England's Euro 2008 qualifier against Russia in October and a new grass one laid in readiness for the final. But experts decided it was too bumpy, prompting stadium authorities to lay another less than three weeks ago, using turf from Slovakia at a cost of £160,000. Uefa insists the new pitch is good enough but BBC Radio 5 Live's Alastair Yeomans said: "If you look closely you can see where it has been patched up, particularly around the centre circle. It's possible the ball won't run true in places." Groundsman Matt Frost had claimed last week that he would provide a "Rolls-Royce of a pitch" for the final but now he has reservations. "I'm totally disappointed with the whole project and what we are presenting for the final," conceded the Englishman. The two teams trained on the pitch on Tuesday and declared themselves happy. "The pitch is the same for both sides and if get the footwear right we will be fine," insisted Chelsea skipper John Terry. "We are not worrying about that at all." Ferguson added: "I think Uefa have done their best. You have to remind yourself that Old Trafford in January or February is not the best in the league." Chelsea suffered a late injury scare when left-back Cole was injured in a tackle with team-mate Claude Makelele. But both teams are expected to be at full strength for the game, which will be played in front of 69,500 fans inside the stadium and a television audience of millions. More than 40,000 English fans are expected to travel to Moscow to watch the match. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Russia has agreed a visa-free regime for the region from 17 May to 25 May for all fans with a valid match ticket. But fans have been warned of the dangers of excessive drinking. The city has special 'drink police' who travel around with mobile cells, looking for drunks, and if those cells are full, offenders risk being taken to 'sobering houses'. The game will kick off at 2245 local time and Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard admitted it would make for a "slightly longer day". However, United defender Rio Ferdinand joked that "it wouldn't matter if the game was played at four in the morning". Both teams are packed with European experience, with 13 players out of the 22 lining up likely to have already played in a Champions League final. Slovakian Lubos Michel is the match referee. The England left-back hurt his ankle after a strong challenge from Claude Makelele and went off for treatment. Manchester United centre-back Nemanja Vidic sat out final training but the club insist he is to fit to start. Sir Alex Ferguson must decide whether to play Owen Hargreaves in midfield or start with Carlos Tevez up front. Hargreaves may be used alongside Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes to counter Chelsea's midfield trio of Claude Makelele, Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack. Or United may opt for a more traditional 4-4-2 formation with Cristiano Ronaldo and Ji-Sung Park on the flanks, and Tevez joining Wayne Rooney up front. Ferguson must also discard six of the 24-man squad which travelled to Moscow in deciding on his seven substitutes. Cole stayed down for a long time after the heavy tackle from Makelele in Chelsea's final work-out, requiring extensive treatment. He was then helped off the field by Chelsea staff, with his right ankle heavily strapped, although did resume running again to try and overcome the problem. Ricardo Carvalho, John Terry and Didier Drogba are all expected to be fit. Captain Terry dislocated his elbow on the final day of the Premier League season, but seems to have made a stunning recovery to play. Fellow defender Carvalho, who won the trophy with Porto in 2004, has overcome a back injury and influential striker Drogba looks to have shaken off a knee problem. Michael Essien is likely to remain at right-back ahead of Paolo Ferreira or Juliano Belletti, while Makelele is set to take the holding role in midfield ahead of John Mikel Obi, with Joe Cole on the right flank. But boss Avram Grant must decide whether to pick Florent Malouda or Salomon Kalou on the left flank. For United, midfielder Scholes, who missed the 1999 final through suspension, has been promised a place in the starting line-up in the Luzhniki Stadium. As far as CL appearances are concerned, Giggs holds the club record for United, with 103. Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scorer in this season's CL, with seven goals. He has scored 41 goals in all competitions for United this season. Only Denis Law (46 in 1963-64) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (44 in 2002-03) have scored more in a season in United's history. Chelsea's Didier Drogba is the joint second highest scorer in this season's CL, with six. If involved, Chelsea captain John Terry will be making 50th CL appearance. He made his CL debut when Chelsea lost at home to Besiktas (0-2) on 1 October 2003. Joe Cole and Makelele have played in all 12 of Chelsea's CL matches this season. Avram Grant's first game in charge of Chelsea was a 2-0 league defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on 23 September. Chelsea have won 36, drawn 12 and lost three of the 52 subsequent matches overseen by the Israeli. Победа сделает «Манчестер Юнайтед» 6-м по успешности клубом в истории Кубка Европейских Чемпионов – Лиге Чемпионов; «Челси» займет 10-ю строчку в этом рейтинге, поскольку это будет их первая победа в истории турнира. Личные встречи Это будет 151-я встреча соперников между собой; «Манчестер Юнайтед» одержал 65 побед, «Челси»- 41 и 44 матча завершились вничью. Исключая матч «Коммьюнити Шилд» нынешнего сезона, когда «Юнайтед» победил «Челси» по пенальти после ничьей 1-1 в основное время, «красные дьяволы одержали только 1 победу в 6-ти последних матчах с «Челси».
