TEAM NEWS

Liverpool expect Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger to play after recent injuries, though Fernando Torres misses out once again.

Yossi Benayoun and Albert Riera could feature, but Alberto Aquilani will have to settle for a place on the bench.

Manchester City have named Robinho, Gareth Barry and Craig Bellamy in their squad after recent injuries, however, Robinho is not expected to feature.

Martin Petrov has been ruled out after injuring his knee playing for Bulgaria.

MATCH PREVIEW

Liverpool and Manchester City kicked-off the season with hopes of being crowned league champions. Four months on and that maiden Premier League title looks merely a pipe-dream for both clubs - simply finishing in the top four right now seems a more realistic target.

The two sides have played 10 league games between them since the start of October, the sole victory for either club being Liverpool's 2-0 win at home to Manchester United. This autumn splutter has intensified the importance of this fixture - defeat for Liverpool would leave them four points behind City having played a game more.

Reds skipper Steven Gerrard has declared himself fit after his cameo performance against Birmingham two weeks ago. He spearheads a long list of players returning from injury with Fernando Torres and summer signing Alberto Aquilani not far away from his first Liverpool start.
