Arsène Wenger has received a triple injury boost ahead of the game with Middlesbrough at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Theo Walcott has recovered from his thigh injury while Kolo Toure and Robin van Persie are both match-fit after returning against Wigan last Sunday. Therefore only Abou Diaby (calf), Tomas Rosicky (hamstring) and Eduardo (broken leg) are absent. In addition, Emmanuel Eboue is back from domestic suspension.

"Compared to last week we just have Theo Walcott back in the squad," said Wenger.

"Kolo Toure and Robin van Persie were back last week but were not completely match-fit. This time they are much better."

However there is no immediate return in sight for Rosicky who was last seen limping off in the early stages of the match with Newcastle on January 26.

"Personally I don't know when he will be back," said Wenger. "We miss him yes he is a big player and has a fantastic spirit. We have missed his talent. I can not really give positive news about his injury. It is a strange injury but not a bad one."

Wenger - It is an interesting and challenging draw for us
Arsène Wenger believes that Arsenal’s pairing with Liverpool in the Quarter-Final of the Champions League will be both interesting and challenging.

The draw was made on Friday afternoon at Uefa headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. It means a triple-header against the five-time European champions at the start of April — the two-legged tie sandwiching a Premier League fixture at Emirates Stadium.

League position would suggest that Arsenal are favourites to progress, but Wenger is well aware of the Merseysiders’ threat, especially in Europe.

“It is an interesting and challenging draw,” said the Frenchman. “It is a big opponent and we play them three times [in a week] and you will not know what competition it is. All that you will know is it is Liverpool.

“They raise their game in the Champions League. We know we can beat them and therefore it is the form of the day that will be the decider. We will focus and concentrate to be at our best on the day.

And is clashing with an English side a problem? Wenger doesn’t think so.

“Not especially,” he said. “You know when you have four clubs from England in the Quarter-Final, you will have to play one or two at some stage.

“If you want to go to the final and win the final you have to get through that.”

After hearing about rumours linking him with a move to Tottenham, Villarreal star Robert Pires says that wearing their shirt would be "weird" and that the speculation must be "a joke"...
Villarreal star Robert Pires has answered transfer murmurings linking him with a summer move to White Hart Lane, insisting that he would never wear a Tottenham shirt.

The veteran Frenchman’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season and Spurs boss Juande Ramos reportedly admires the winger from his time at Sevilla.

However, the former Arsenal man was bemused to hear the speculation and ruled out any move to Spurs.

“Is it a joke?” Pires asked Setanta. “They must have forgotten where I come from.

“They can make the offer, but I won’t play for Tottenham. Seeing myself wearing their shirt would be weird after the six years I spent at Arsenal.

“If they are interested that’s encouraging regarding my age, they can make the offer.”

Pires is more focused on helping the Yellow Submarine to claim a Champions League spot, and the 34-year-old hasn’t given up hope regarding an extended stay with in La Liga.

“I understand Villarreal’s position because the end of the season is fantastic to experience because we are third and my situation is secondary,” he added.

“I don’t worry and I think they’ll propose me something because they haven’t told me that they don’t want to continue, unlike Pascal Cygan, who has been told he’ll not stay.

“There are priorities in life and I’m relaxed, waiting for them to tell me good news. I’m just trying to play well until the season ends and we’ll discuss at some point.

“I can sign wherever I want right now and of course I have been contacted (by other clubs), but Villarreal remain my priority and I’ll take a decision when I’ll know what they want to do.

“I don’t forget the financial effort they made when they signed me and the fact they waited for me to return from a seven-month absence due to injury.”
