Robinho staying at Real - Calderon

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has reiterated his belief that Chelsea target Robinho will be staying in the Spanish capital.

With transfer deadline day edging ever closer the Brazil international remains at Santiago Bernabeu.

Talks over a potential move to Chelsea are believed to be ongoing, with the player stressing his desire to secure a move to England.

However, Calderon is reluctant to part with the talented playmaker and insists the 24-year-old has been swayed by the views of his advisors.

"He's going to stay here, I'm saying that," the Real supreme told ABC, adding that Robinho was "a good boy, badly advised."

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has made the South American star his top target this summer, but the Blues have already had one bid knocked back by their Spanish counterparts.

The transfer window closes on Monday, allowing little time for a deal to finally be struck.

Madrid drop Blues target Robinho

Chelsea target Robinho has been left out of the Real Madrid squad for Sunday's Primera Liga opener against Deportivo La Coruna.

The decision to omit the Brazil international comes amid continued speculation about the wantaway winger's future, with Robinho insisting on Friday that negotiations with Chelsea were ongoing.

Robinho declared more than a week ago that he wanted to leave Madrid and join Chelsea, but Madrid coach Bernd Schuster still included the 24-year-old in his squad for last Sunday's Supercopa second leg against Valencia, although did not play him.

Madrid insist they do not want Robinho to leave but have said they will not keep a player at the Bernabeu against their will.

Earlier, Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has reiterated his belief that Robinho will be staying in the Spanish capital.

#10838 Serj1989, "... Asta e semn ..." - nu prea cred. Calderon refuza sa-l vinda pe Robinho din cauza ca doreste sa incaseze o suma solida de bani (cum a si mentionat spencer), insa Abramovich e mai experimentat acum din acest punct de vedere, si nu va scoate mai mult decit trebuie. Asadar, Calderon la moment doreste sa-i ofere o lectie "de bune maniere" lui Robinho, si la insistenta sa, acesta nu va fi inclus citeva meciuri in lot. Altfel, actiunile lui mos Calderon nu prea au sens.

Robinho still on Chelsea's radar

Chelsea 'remain hopeful' of extracting Robinho from Real Madrid before the transfer deadline. The Brazil striker is to hold a press conference in Barcelona this afternoon where is expected to protest against the Spanish champions' decision not to allow him to leave.

Though Robinho has already publicly expressed his desire to join Chelsea on several occasions, Real president Ramón Calderón last week declared the transfer impossible under pressure from Bernd Schuster, his coach.

Schuster has since omitted Robinho from his squad for his side's La Liga opener against Deportivo La Coruña today, but expects to have him available again after the international break. 'When he comes back from international duty next week, we will be able to deal with him and everything will change,' Schuster said. 'A lot is going on and today it can't all be cleared up. It will be by 2 September. For us, he continues to be an important player, but we have to look at the player's condition. In recent weeks the pressure around him has been greater, things have been said and the player is not in the right state.'

Chelsea are continuing to work on agreeing a fee for the 24-year-old, whom Luiz Felipe Scolari specifically requested upon taking over as manager this season. A club spokesman said: 'The club has always made it clear that Robinho is a major target and we're hopeful we can complete a deal soon.'
