Хорошо. Было непросто переехать из Манчестера в Мадрид. Моя жена была на 8-м месяце беременности, это был напряженный год, рождение ребенка, новый язык для нас, новая команда. Но мы с этим справились и сейчас уже более или менее адаптировались. Сейчас я уже говорю по-испански и не запутаюсь на улицах Мадрида.

А правда, что голландцы начинают учить новый язык сразу после завтрака?
(Смеется). Я пытался учить испанский с первого дня. Я брал уроки и спустя полгода уже мог немного говорить. В Мадриде очень немногие говорят по-английски, так что мне пришлось учиться достаточно быстро. Когда я приехал, мне помог Дэвид Бекхэм. Его помощь стала большим подспорьем.
Ты скучаешь по Манчестеру?
Мы скучаем. Мы с женой были там очень счастливы, и я всегда думал, что завершу свою карьеру в «Манчестер Юнайтед». Но иногда дела идут не так, как ты планируешь, и в этом правда жизни, это не только футбол. Мы прожили в Манчестере пять лет, и он всегда будет частью нас. Прошлым летом я с женой приезжал в Манчестер на выходные, чтобы навестить друзей. Было приятно снова там побывать и побродить по городу. Когда я завершу карьеру, я вернусь в Голландию, но обязательно пару раз в год буду посещать Манчестер.

Что ты можешь сказать о форме Кристиано Роналдо в последнее время?
Он добился большого прогресса, с тех пор как я покинул команду. Сейчас он, конечно, выделяется своей игрой. Его прогресс был просто невероятным. Он пришел в команду совсем юным игроком, и ему нужно было совершенствовать свою игру. Тренер доверял ему, постоянно давая играть. В результате он получил именно того футболиста, которого хотел. Сейчас Роналдо - это отличный игрок. Он принимает на поле верные решения, когда нужно идет в обводку, а когда надо отдаст мяч партнеру. Он берется за всё - за штрафные и угловые. Пока он еще оставил Ван дер Сару удары от ворот, но надеюсь, что скоро он лишит его и этой возможности! Если он будет продолжать так играть, то станет лучшим футболистом в мире. У него есть для этого всё.

Ты до сих пор смотришь матчи «Юнайтед?
Да, мне удается посмотреть большинство матчей. В Испании всегда показывают матчи «Юнайтед» по телевидению, и, как правило, до того, как мы проводим свои игры. Мне очень приятно видеть, что команда действует хорошо и нравится смотреть игры с «Олд Траффорд», потому что у меня связаны с ним приятные воспоминания.
Как тебе испанские болельщики по сравнению с их английскими коллегами?
Английские болельщики - это лучшие болельщики в мире. Стадионы всегда заполнены под завязку. Когда «Юнайтед» играл на выезде, нашу трибуну всегда было слышно, и они создавали отличную атмосферу. Я слышу, как поют болельщики «Юнайтед», когда смотрю игру по телевизору. Я заметил, что они заменили слово «Глазго», где проходил финал Лиги Чемпионов в 2002 году, на «Москва», где финал пройдет в этом году. Теперь они поют – «Follow, follow, follow, because United are going to Moscow», и у «Юнайтед» есть мастерство, чтобы сыграть там.

Sir Alex Ferguson sets retirement date

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed to family and friends that he intends to retire - at the end of next season.

The 66-year-old Manchester United boss even considered walking away this summer if United clinched a Premier League and Champions League double.

A Ferguson confidant revealed: "He has made up his mind to leave inside the next two seasons and has discussed the decision with his wife Cathy and the family."

The scene is set for Fergie to retire in the summer of 2009.

He is adamant he will not publicly set a date for his departure but on the subject of retirement he confirmed: "I have a plan, there's no question about that."

Manchester United defender Wes Brown has signed a four-year deal at Old Trafford.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed last week Brown and team-mates Rio Ferdiand and Michael Carrick had agreed contract extenions.

Brown looked to be on his out of United after turning down a new deal earlier in the year, but a compromise was finally reached to keep the versatile defender at the Premier League leaders.

The 28-year-old was delighted to sort out his future and extend his stay at United until 2012 having come through the youth ranks at Old Trafford.

"Manchester United is a fantastic club and I am delighted to have signed a new deal," Brown told the club's official website.

"To be part of a team I have supported all my life is a great honour.

"I can see this team winning many trophies in the coming seasons and it will be great to share in that success."

Ferguson was happy to keep Brown after being impressed at the way he has helped fill the void left by Gary Neville's long-term absence.

"I am delighted Wes has signed a new contract, he has grown up at this club and is an integral part of the squad," noted Ferguson

"He has done a great job during Gary's absence and has been a major factor in our outstanding defensive performance."

eu inteleg ca riise a facut multe lukruri bune pentru liver da in situatia data e loh pentru ca aceasta nu era o faza grea.... un jukator de talia sa nu trebuie sa greseasca in halul asta...
el a gresit da va plati intreaga ekipa... si debilii acestea de la chelsea pe seama la o greseala prosteasca o sa treaca in finala....

Barcelona star Thierry Henry has recovered from illness and could start alongside Lionel Messi and Deco in the Champions League semi-final, first leg.

Ronaldinho is injured but skipper Carlos Puyol is banned so Rafael Marquez is set to play in defence.

Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is fit after a groin strain.

Wayne Rooney has overcome the hip injury he suffered on Saturday, while Owen Hargreaves and Anderson are both available after minor knocks.

Nemanja Vidic missed United's training session at the Nou Camp on Tuesday as a precaution.

The Serbian defender only returned to the side from a knee injury in the 1-1 draw against Blackburn on Saturday, but is expected to play.

Messi, the 20-year-old Argentine striker and Barca's leading player this season, has made just two appearances as a substitute since returning to action after six weeks out with a thigh injury.

Former Arsenal star Henry, who was an unused substitute in Saturday's goalless draw with Espanyol, returned to training on Tuesday after sitting out Monday's session because of a fever.

Portuguese midfielder Deco has overcome a calf injury but is still building up his fitness.

"Messi is progressing well and could start. Henry has been with the team on Tuesday and we will see how he is in the training session.

"Deco is OK too, he has worked hard in the last few training sessions," said coach Frank Rijkaard.

Mexican defender Marquez has been suffering from bruising and inflammation in his right foot but seems set to partner Gabriel Milito in the centre of defence.

On Saturday, Barcelona's derby clash with RCD Espanyol ended in a goalless draw. The defending Spanish champions are third in the Primera Division trailing league leaders Real Madrid by 11 points.

The Premier League's reigning champions, Manchester United, drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Saturday, and hold a three point lead over Chelsea at the top of the table, as they vie for a 17th English league championship.
