AC Milan coach Allegri: Arsenal not a one-man team

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has dismissed the suggestion that his players need only to nullify the threat posed by Robin van Persie in order to see off Arsenal in their Champions League last 16 first leg clash at San Siro on Wednesday night.

Van Persie has been in sensational goal-scoring form for the Gunners over the past year but many feel that Arsene Wenger's side have become overly reliant on the Dutchman.

Allegri, though, believes that there is more to the north London attack than just Van Persie.

"We know the strength of Arsenal, with a good collective unit and individuals that enhance their overall characteristics," he mused.

"We must play a defensively cautious game [on Wednesday night], also because this particular game is 180 minutes long.

"Arsenal have a great team. There is not only Van Persie and we must be wary of all of them."

Allegri has a number of injury concerns ahead of the game at the Giuseppe Meazza and he admitted that he has yet to decide how best to utilise Kevin-Prince Boateng, who has only just returned to training after three weeks out with a muscular problem.

"I have to evaluate the condition of the injured," the former Cagliari boss explained. "Some have only done a few sessions with the team.

"It'd be difficult for Boateng to play from the start, even though I could change my mind tomorrow.

"It's the same with [Alexandre] Pato. However, we'll see them tomorrow, along with [Alessandro] Nesta - he's very important to us."

Ljungberg leaves S-Pulse

Former Sweden and Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg has left Shimizu S-Pulse by mutual consent after just six months at the Japanese J.League side.

Ljungberg, 34, made the move to the Far East in September but admitted that S-Pulse was 'not the right project' for him.

"I loved my time in Japan, and I am grateful to have had the chance to live in Japan and embrace the Japanese culture," Ljungberg said.

"However, after a long thought-out process and discussions with my family, I felt ... this was not the right project for me.

"Different ambitions combined with not having the opportunity to participate in the Champions League 2012 edition were my main reasons to explore other options."

Ljungberg, who has also had spells with West Ham United, Celtic, Seattle Sounders and Chicago Fire since leaving Arsenal in 2007, parts ways with S-Pulse after just eight league appearances.

"There were some differences in vision causing the mutual termination between S-Pulse and Fredrik Ljungberg," a club statement read.

"S-Pulse would like to compete in the 2012 season with players and staff who share common vision and goals."

Agent: Freddie Ljungberg rejected offers from England in January

Freddie Ljungberg's agent has claimed that the player rejected offers to return to England during the January transfer window.

The former Arsenal star is currently considering his next move having just parted company with Japanese outfit Shimizu S-Pulse by mutual consent.

Ljungberg's representative, Walid Bouzid, insists that a return to Europe is a possibility given that that player last month turned down offers from several English clubs.

"They were not the right English clubs," the agent explained. "French and Scandinavian clubs also showed interest.

"He wants to play in a club battling for league titles, but he also wants his final project to give him a chance to give something back to society."
