Total NonStop Action Wrestling (TNA) is a privately controlled integrated-media and sports entertainment company that deals primarily in professional wrestling. It uses television, the Internet, and live events, with additional major revenue sources from product licensing and direct product sales. Dixie Carter is the president of the company and co-founder Jeff Jarrett is the Vice President. In 2002, Panda Energy International purchased the majority of its shares.
The company has its headquarters in Orlando, Florida; its trading company TNA Entertainment, LLC operates out of Nashville, Tennessee. The company previously bore the name "NWA Total Nonstop Action" — at the time of it's formation it belonged to the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). TNA was granted exclusive rights to both the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and the NWA World Tag Team Championship. TNA withdrew from the NWA in 2004, but was permitted to continue to use the championships until the NWA abrogated the agreement in May 2007.
TNA became the first American promotion to make exclusive use of a hexagonal wrestling-ring (as opposed to the more conventional four-sided ring).The organization also employed the unconventional rule that a championship can change hands as the result of a disqualification or countout, but has slowly phased out this rule. TNA's business focus is on professional wrestling. It is currently the second largest professional wrestling promotion in the world, behind World Wrestling Entertainment.

Former WWE Diva Savanah aka Angela Fong posted the following on her twitter page when someone asked her if she had ever been in contact with TNA.

Inca nu am privit ultimul impact.. dar cum sa nu degradeze daca ei filmeaza cite 3-4 epizoade in 2 zile, probabil nici wrestlerii nu prea inteleg ce se intimpla...Nici macar aproape de WWE no sa se apropie daca nu vor incepe sa faca Impacturile LIVE.

TNA объявили на своем сайте, что для жителей США и Канады просмотр PPV Genesis будет возможен через интернет. Жители Северной Америки смогут заказать трансляцию через сайт TNAonDemand.com. Стоимость трансляции 35 долларов.

Интересно, что к опыту интернет-PPV (iPPV) все чаще и чаще обращаются крупные (и не только) инди-промоушны. Так, год назад через эту систему свои шоу начал транслировать Ring of Honor, а к зиме стал возможен просмотр шоу таких промоушнов как Dragon gate USA, Women Superstars Uncensored, Combat Zone Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Fusion (флоридское отделение NWA).

Для TNA как промоушна, претендующего на статус «про», на статус компании из «высшей лиги», это однозначно шаг назад. Плюс продавать интернет-PPV по той же цене, что и обычное, тоже вряд ли привлечет дополнительных зрителей. Если человек не платил такую сумму за ТВ-показ, что заставит его выложить такую же сумму за интернет-показ? Странное решение.

С другой стороны, учитывая постоянные технические проблемы в разных регионах США и Канады, возникающие при показе PPV, это может стать небольшим шажком вперед. Логичнее было бы ожидать iPPV по чуть более низкой цене.

Для сравнения, iPPV от ведущих инди-промоушнов не превышает $20.

TNA iMPACT 03.01.2011 Ratings

The Thursday, January 6 episode of TNA Impact scored a 1.15 rating. It was Impact's highest rating in two months dating back to a 1.15 rating on November 4 and 11. Among all cable TV shows on Thursday night, Impact ranked #36 in total viewers, #23 in males 18-34, and #8 in the key demographic of males 18-49. In m18-49, Impact scored its highest rating since November 11 and second highest rating since the Bound for Glory fall-out in October. TNA likely benefited from a massive audience for the season premiere of MTV's "Jersey Shore," which placed people in front of their TV sets when they might not be watching TV. "Shore" averaged 8.5 million viewers and scored a 4.2 rating in adults 18-49.

Desmond Wolfe's TNA Return Edited Out Of Last Night's Impact

The return segment of Desmonde Wolfe was edited out of the airing of last night's TNA Impact. During the taping for last night's show (which was taped on 12/10), Wolfe and Magnus hit the ring after Rob Terry vs. Douglas Williams, chasing AJ Styles and Terry away from Williams. Last night's show just featured Styles and Terry taking out Williams.

As of this writing I haven't heard the reason why Wolfe's return was edited out. Wolfe has been out months with an undisclosed ailment described to me as "career-threatening".

WWE Interested In Sting?

The Sun has posted an article claiming that WWE is plotting to swoop the multi-time World Champion from TNA Wrestling. They say with WrestleMania taking place in WCW's former home of Atlanta this year, Vince McMahon wants Sting to be a part of the show and inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Though still listed on the TNA Wrestling website, Sting is presently a free agent after his contract with the organization expired late last year. Most expected him to re-sign w/ TNA though so we'll see what happens in the next few weeks.
