talkSPORT have reported that young defender, Tom Cruise has left Arsenal. The 20 year old was expected to have a rich Arsenal future but things have not really worked out for the youngster.

Cruise is predominantly a left-back, and his release could signal that fellow full-back, Gael Clichy is set to stay at the club this summer after much speculation that he'd leave.

Having won the FA Youth Cup with Arsenal in 2008-09, Cruise went on to make his full debut in the Champions League against Greek side, Olympiakos. He also enjoyed a brief loan spell at Carlisle in November but has ultimately failed to make the grade at the Emirates, and has subsequently been invited to find a new club.

Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury has avowed to break into the Gunners first team next season after spending the last six months at Norwich City, where he helped the Norfolk side win promotion to the Premiership.

The 20 year-old was very proud to help the Canaries in a momentous season, but Lansbury’s one wish is to return to the Emirates and win his place in the Arsenal midfield.

“I just want to try and force my way into the Arsenal side next season,” he said.

“I have to come back raring to go, to be strong and try and take my place. I’m ready to prove myself here, and show the boss that I’m ready to be in the first team.”

There is one sticky problem though. According to the Sun, Lansbury only has one year left on his contract at Arsenal, and Wenger has supposedly given him the ultimatum of either signing a contract extension or being put on the transfer list.

It has been rumoured for some time that the Charlton defender Carl Jenkinson was on his way to Arsenal, and the Charlton coach Chris Powell says that, although it is still looking likely to happen, the deal has not been concluded yet.

The Finnish FA reported that they had got permission from Arsenal for Jenkins to join a Finland training camp, but Powell thinks that they are jumping the gun a little bit.

“I’m surprised the Finnish FA have done that. We have been in dialogue with Arsenal but until everything has been sorted out I can’t officially say it has been done and dusted because it hasn’t been announced yet.

“I’m sure Carl, if nothing goes wrong, won’t be our player any more. That is a shame but if it all comes off then it is a wonderful opportunity for him.”
