Open Letter from the President

President Sandro Rosell addressed the Barça fans via an open letter that we reproduce in full below.

Dear members and fans of FC Barcelona

Through these lines I would like to address myself to the thousands of members, supporters clubs, and fans of FC Barcelona that travelled to Valencia to celebrate the Spanish Cup Final, not forgetting all those who were unable to do so.

On behalf of the Barcelona Board of Directors, I wish to convey our gratitude and our most sincere congratulations. Despite not winning the title, the Barcelona fans have shown, once again, an example of civilised support for their team, reminding us all of the “spirit of Basle' and the common sense and enthusiasm of the Catalan people.

Thanks to you all, we have strengthened the overall image of our Barça, always committed to civility and zero tolerance towards violence, an essential value and a management priority for our club. On Wednesday we played our 35th Cup Final, 25 of which have led to the Trophy travelling to Barcelona. If so many times
FC Barcelona fans have shown how to win and celebrate our trophies, then on Wednesday we showed that, in defeat, we are also champions.

The pride of belonging to this great family unites us and we will continue to strengthen.
We face this final stretch of the season with the satisfaction of those who know that our coaching team and our players are doing an exceptional job with illusion for what remains ahead. Within a few days we’ll be playing with 2 titles at stake, the League and
Champions League, and our team will need maximum support. I am convinced that we will not fail them..

This team always picks itself up

In recent years Barça have always picked themselves up after a defeat. With Guardiola as manager, the team have reacted strongly at the toughest of times.

Season 2010-11

Barça suffered their first defeat of the season against Hercules (2-0) in the second game of the season. The team picked themselves up immediately and 3 days later in the Champions League, thrashed Panathinaikos 5-1. Barça haven’t lost since then in the league and have suffered only 2 defeats in the Spanish Cup: against Betis in the second leg of the quarterfinals (3-1) and in the final against Real Madrid (1-0).

Season 2009-10

Guardiola's team suffered only 2 defeats all season and neither of them had a negative influence afterwards. After losing in the Camp Nou against Rubin Kazan (2-1) in the third group game of the Champions League, Barça thrashed Zaragoza in the league (6-1) and went on a 17 game unbeaten run until they lost to Sevilla in the Camp Nou in the first leg of the last 16 of the Spanish Cup. Once again, they reacted brilliantly and battered Tenerife in the next league game (5-0).

Last season, the team deserved special mention for their reaction after the painful elimination in the semifinal of the Champions League at the hands of Inter Milan. After losing 3-1 in the first leg, Barça beat Xerez 3-1 and in the league game following their elimination from the Champions, Guardiola’s Barça defeated Villarreal away (4-1) and strung together 4 consecutive wins that gave them the league title.

Season 2008-09

Guardiola had a traumatic start in the league as the Barça first team manager. Barca lost 1-0 in the first game away to Numancia but the team reacted brilliantly. Over the next 35 games, Barça only lost against Shakhtar (3-2) in an inconsequential Champions League match. The balance was 31 wins and 4 draws until they lost at Espanyol (2-1) in league. Barça had to overcome a small blip in February that season, when they lost away to Atletico Madrid (4-3) and drew at Olympique Lyon (1-1) in the Champions League, and Mallorca (1-1) in the Spanish Cup, but that game sent them through to the Cup Final. They then strung together 16 games without losing that helped them to achieve a historic treble: League, Spanish Cup and Champions League.

Puyol and Villa

Carles Puyol did some specific training on Friday and Guardiola commented that "we’ll wait and see how he is" to see if he’ll be able to play against Osasuna. The Manager acknowledged that the injury that kept him off the pitch for about 3 months is fine, but that the muscular discomfort "came back again while he was warming up".

As for David Villa, and his lack of goals in recent games, Guardiola commented that “he’s a fundamental player for us and his presence is not under dispute".

Guardiola, who pointed out that "in sport you lose more than you win" and said that "in the dressing room there are no regrets, we’ll come back strongly".

#71636 Peteaphantom, treb pe Mascherano de-l "pus" la rupt picioarele sau cineva tre sa faca aceast lucru.Barca joaca foarte atent cu adversarul ,cu respect,dar adversarul se foloseste de asta.Jucatorii profesionisti stiu cum sa faulteze in acelasi timp foarte dur si in asa fel ca sa para "moale".

#71635 Sunseeker,Да Барса великий клуб и показывает самую красивую игру в мире,НО иногда она расслабляется и валяет дурака на поле что иногда становится просто стыдно смотреть на такую игру.Да в финале владение мячом было подавляющее,но реальных голевых моментов было не много а если и были моменты то они глупо терялись!Мне вообще Реал не нравится.Но вспомни первый тайм и как они прижали Барсу как кроликов и могли забить.У барсы мяч не держался и в нападении ничего не получалось жалко было смотреть.Надеюсь в Лиги Чемпионов она прежмёт Реал и выйграет у Реала с крупным счётом и выкинет Реал из Лиги Чемпионов!

Da practic in orice echipa mare este minimum un jucator care are "status" de "Killer" si toti joaca fericit

Pep o fost si el un jucator nu chiar placut pentru adveresar,el cunoaste smecherii pe care li-ar putea aplica.Insa el nu vrea sa se atinga de unele chestii "murdare" .El vrea sa faca din Barca un Brand care e perfect din toate punctele de vedere.Eu is doar pentru ))
Apropo Carvalho Out si se pare ca Khedira out pentru meciul de pe Bernabeu + asta-i un plus,tre de cistigat acolo
