Former Arsenal captain Tony Adams confessed he would love to make a comeback with the Gunners although it’s too early to consider such a move.

In May of last year, the Englishman signed a three-year contract to manage Azerbaijani club Gabala FC as he explained how his job is not just to manage the team but also to build and manage the Club’s training facilities, an interesting project which he is ready to complete before taking future decisions on his managerial and coaching career.

Asked about how the Gunners are doing this season, the 44-year old declared they are in a fantastic position to win something as he added how it is vital for the players to understand what it means to win a trophy, any trophy, even if it’s just the Carling Cup.

According to Adams, the critical period starts now as he explained how that is what he would tell the players if were the captain of the side today as he concluded by stressing the importance of ending the five-year trophyless crisis as the players will never understand the difference between not winning and winning unless they go through it.

Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, Adams said:

I’d love to [come back at Arsenal], it’s the best Club in the World, why wouldn’t I want to work here and if I can contribute in any level then I will. But I have an interesting project on hand, I’ve got a super boss, a super owner, a Club [Gabala] that totally supports me and want me to build a team and a stadium and I’ve not done that yet. So I need to do that. Even if the great Arsenal come knocking I don’t think I’m going come over just yet. But down the line, who knows? [The current Arsenal side] is in a fantastic position, they need to go over the line, they are starting to believe but this is a critical period in the footballing calendar. From now on they need to step up, they got themselves in such a great position. Certainly if I’ve been Club captain now I would say, ‘We start now, the hard work starts right now. This is where we need to go if we want to achieve great things’. They’ve got the talent to be champions. I’ve played in four Championship-winning teams and this is as a talented squad as that I’ve played in. They need to go over the line and put a trophy on the sideboard, anything, just put one on the sideboards, learn how to win, learn how to be competitive, how to go over the line. I was very lucky to win early in my career, I won as a very young man but I did also know how to go across that line, how to win leagues, how to win Cups and the difference between not winning and winning, you can’t explain it unless you go through it. They are yet to do that so any trophy, whatsoever, will be fantastic.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed midfielder Aaron Ramsey and striker Carlos Vela are very close to leave the Club, on loan, during the January transfer window.

Speaking on Friday ahead of today’s game against Wigan, the Frenchman confessed loaning the Welshman out is an option but not to a Premier League club as he will be an important member of the midfield in the last couple of months of the season. On the Mexican, the Arsenal boss added that there are many clubs interested and how he will join a team which can guarantee playing time for the youngster.

Asked about the situation in central defence and whether Gary Cahill is being monitored, Wenger explained the Englishman is a good player but how he cannot reveal details on who the Gunners are keeping an eye on as it would add unnecessary pressure.

Wenger concluding by saying how in case of emergency, midfielder Alex Song will drop deep to play in the defensive department with back-from-injury Abou Diaby taking over in midfield as he also rubbished rumours about a possible departure from in-form Samir Nasri.

I am considering to give Ramsey one month out on loan, with a possibility of him going to Cardiff. I don’t want [Ramsey] to go to a Premier League club because I want him to finish the season with us. I just look for competition for him. There is much interest in [Vela] for a loan, that is what I want to do. We have plenty of clubs who are interested in him. At the end of the day I look for a guarantee [that he will play]. For him, he has as well to agree to join the club who wants him. At the moment, I cannot come out with any name. I think Gary Cahill is a very good player but I cannot tell you more. We like to keep our transfer negotiations very secret. It puts more pressure on when you go public so you understand we don’t want to speak publicly about that. As long as Squillaci is out, I must say, we are short [at the back]. But we have other resources to play Song in there. If the worst came to the worst, Diaby is coming back so we could put Song back because we’d have Diaby to play in midfield. Why should [Samir Nasri] want to leave? I am confident [he will stay] because I believe that he knows he is doing well here, he is in a big club. I told you already that the recent numbers as well have shown that the players who stay at the club where they are successful have a bigger career than the players who move every two years. I’ve tried to tell him that and he knows that.

Arsene Wenger has insisted Manchester United have been lucky with their unbeaten run this season and that it is far too early to compare them to Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’.

United have gone 21 games without defeat and talk of them repeating Arsenal’s feat of the 2003-04 season is growing.

But Wenger said: ‘Have they been a bit lucky until now? Certainly, but we’ll see. I believe it is too long to go to say they will do it, but you cannot rule it out.’

The Arsenal boss cited United’s win over West Bromwich as an example of their good fortune. Roberto di Matteo's side were denied a penalty despite a clear foul by Gary Neville on Graham Dorrans before Peter Odemwingie fluffed a second-half spot-kick that would have given his team a 2-1 lead.

‘They are solid defensively at the moment more than offensively,’ said Wenger. ‘So at the moment they get through games.’

Asked when United could be considered contenders to emulate Arsenal’s achievement, he said: ‘With five games to go, you think, “We can add something to that”. But you don’t think about that with 16 games to go.’

Arsene Wenger has admitted he may need to sign a new centre back in January after Thomas Vermaelen sustained a long term Achilles injury and Sebastien Squillaci has been forced out of action repeatedly with various knocks.

Wenger refused to comment on speculation linking the club with a bid for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill earlier on Friday, and now skysports.com understands the Frenchman could be set to make Arsenal's bitter rivals an offer for the stopper.

Woodgate is returning from his own nightmare spell on the sidelines and has not played a competitive game since November 2009.

The former Newcastle, Leeds United and Real Madrid man played 45 minutes in a behind closed doors friendly for a Spurs XI against QPR during the week and is looking to work his way back into first team contention.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has previously expressed a willingness to allow Woodgate to pick up match practise by going on loan to a Championship club, with QPR and Leeds believed to be interested.

How willing Redknapp would be to do business with Arsenal, however, remains to be seen, while Wenger may still be concerned with the defender's past injury record.

Главный тренер "Арсенала" Арсен Венгер уверен в том, что Самир Насри не покинет клуб.


В свои 23 года Насри уже стал настоящей звездой "Арсенала", и вообще проводит свой лучший сезон в карьере. Он уже отличился за "канониров" 14 раз во всех турнирах, и получил награду футболиста года во Франции. Но контракт Насри истекает через 18 месяцев, и Венгер рассказал о будущем футболиста.

"Я уверен, что Насри останется ведь я верю, что он знает, что играет за успешный клуб, и что он очень важен команде".

"Я говорил ему это, и он всё понимает".

Венгер удивился, что Насри не взяли на Чемпионат Мира, но заявил, что это только помогло ему отдохнуть физически, и настроится психологически.

"Насри, безусловно, получил заслуженный отдых", - сказал Венгер.

"Сам Насри часто задавал вопросы, хорош ли он настолько, чтобы взять его на мундиаль. И у него появилось желание доказать, что это было несправедливо. И что вы видите сейчас? Французские газеты только и говорят про серьёзную ошибку Доменека".

Венгер также заявил, что Насри удивил его своей игрой ещё в "Марселе".

"Например, Сеск - чистый плеймейкер, а вот Насри иногда смещается на фланг. Он очень быстрый и техничный игрок".

"Я знаю отца Насри очень хорошо", - сказал главный тренер "Арсенала".

"Я видел фотографии Насри, когда ему было 8 или 9 лет, и он тренировался в детской команде "Марселя". Это клуб, который дал ему дорогу в жизнь. Его уже там считали восходящей звездой. Что мне нравиться в Насри, так это то, что он не отрывается от земли. Он очень скромный".

Марк Рэндалл будет выступать в Лиге Два за "Ротерхэм Юнайтед" до конца сезона 2010/2011.



Начало пребывания Рэндалла на "Дон Уоллей Стэдиум" было омрачено серьёзной травмой: Марк уже на 21 минуте своего дебютного матча против "Саутенда" сломал ключицу. Но Марк уже восстановился от травмы, сыграл 3 матча, и забил дебютный гол - в матче против "Порт Вейл".

До прихода в команду Ронни Мура в октябре, Марк 3 раза сыграл за резерв "Арсенала", провёл очень успешную предсезонку: сыграл в Кубке Эмирейтс, и забил великолепный гол дальним ударом в матче "Арсенал XI" - "Борехем Вуд".

Рендалл дебютировал за "Арсенал" в октябре 2006 года, в возрасте 17 лет, и уже 13 раз играл за основную команду, включая 2 игры в Кубке Лиги прошлого года.

Полузащитник провёл вторую половину сезона 2009/2010 в аренде в "МК Донс", и сыграл 18 игр за клуб из Лиги Один. Также, Рендалл в сезоне 2008/2009 отдавался в аренду к "Бёрнли".
