In Barça Fans Newsletter 45 the question was set: ‘Which team will be the team that FC Barcelona must stop to win the 2011 Champions League trophy?” The response from the Blaugrana supporters was huge as 5,118 chose the club that they believe will stand in the way of Pep Guardiola’s side and glory at Wembley next May.

The options given to the question were chosen by those teams listed by Betfair as the favourites to win the Champions League. With Barça not included the list saw Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal and Inter all named with the extra option of another club too.

No less than 39.07 per cent of fans believe that Real Madrid are the strongest opponents while 37.40 per cent naming Chelsea as the club that Guardiola and his side will have to watch. In third place were reigning European champions Inter, who have already been beaten by Tottenham Hotspur this term, with 10.66 per cent. Manchester United were fourth with 5.83 per cent of the vote and Arsenal fifth with 4.75 per cent. Only 2.29 per cent of supporters felt that other clubs, such as Bayern Munich or Tottenham Hotspur could challenge.

The first leg will be played in Camp Nou before Christmas and the second leg in San Mamés on the 5th of January.
Should FC Barcelona reach the quarter finals then they would meet either Betis or Getafe, once again with the first leg being played at Camp Nou.

If Pep Guardiola's team also made it through the quarter finals they would face one of four possible rivals: Almería, Mallorca, Córdoba and Deportivo. The first leg would again be at Camp Nou.

Afellay is the seventh player that PSV have sold to FC Barcelona. The six previous cases were all good choices.
Twenty years have gone by since Koeman, the Wembley hero, gave up Eindhoven for Barcelona. Three other Dutchmen (Cocu, Zenden and Van Bommel) and two Brazilians (Romario and Ronaldo) have followed in his wake. We now take a look at how they all got on at Barça.

Koeman (1989): Made history at Barça. His goal at Wembley, on May 20, 1992, brought the club its first European Cup. He was at the Camp Nou for six years.

Romario (1993): He was like something out of a cartoon. A natural goalscorer, he amazed the Camp Nou for two seasons, and scored 53 goals in 84 games.

Ronaldo  (1996): He was only at the club for one season, but was one of the best strikers ever to represent Barcelona. In 51 games he scored 47 goals, in a year that Barça won the Spanish Cup and the Cup Winners Cup.

Cocu (1998): With 292 appearances, he is the foreigner that has played the most games for FC Barcelona. He left PSV as a free agent and was the focus of the FCB midfield until 2004.

Zenden (1998): Like Cocu, who joined Barça after the 1998 World Cup. He was key member of the side in 1998/99. Zenden was at the club for three years before leaving for Chelsea.

Van Bommel (2005): Arrived as a free agent, and in just one year at Barça he won a League and a Champions League.
