Бывший полузащитник "Арсенала" Робер Пирес считает, что Маруана Шамаха ждёт большое будущее в составе "канониров".

Марокканский форвард отлично начал свою карьеру в "Арсенале", учитывая его статус новичка, забив пять мячей в 12-ти матчах за команду в Премьер Лиги. Совсем недавно, 26-летний игрок забил самый быстрый гол в истории "Арсенала" в рамках Премьер Лиги, отличившись уже на 37-ой секунде в матче против "Вулверхэмптона".

"Маруана ждёт большой успех в "Арсенале", я уверен в этом", - заявил Пирес согласно The Mirror.

"Очень тяжело переходить из французской Лиги 1 в Премьер Лигу. Они очень отличаются между собой, и любой футболист может оказаться не готов к такой смене. Самое сложное в Англии, это приспособиться к скоростям и физической борьбе. И любому игроку нужно время для адаптации". 

Пирес добавил: "Я познакомился с Маруаном на тренировках "Арсенала". И он обладает всеми качествами, которые необходимы для успеха в Англии. У него есть характер, отличная техника, и он уже показал, что может забивать голы. Он знает, что должен работать в разы больше, чем ранее и он готов делать это".

Another away game and another massive result. Not a perfect game from us but again we showed the desire and determination to get the three points and the whole team delivered. Now twice in a row we have grinded out results despite not being at our best. On both occasions we have done enough. Just imagine what the results would be if we played in our best form. We just have to show consistency.

Today our defence was brilliant again as they kept Everton from creating clear scoring chances throughout the match. The midfield although wasn’t at their best from the start but settled in well. The second half was where it dominated. The midfield also contributed a lot in defence that was good to see. Upfront we didn’t create much but we took our chances. The forwards also played their part in defending.

Coming to player ratings:

Fabianski: Another great display of keeping from him. Made some brilliant saves with some good distribution. Can’t be blamed for the goal as he made sure that we got the three points. 7.5

Sagna: Another top performance from the Frenchman. Scored an awesome goal, was good coming forward and great in defending. 8

Squillaci: Nervy start by him again but overall held the backline well. Was always clearing the ball before it became a danger. Good on set pieces too. 7

Djourou: Monster performance from him. One of his best performance if not ‘the best’. Solid at the back, good in the air and was good in distributing the ball. 8

Clichy: Today he again had an excellent game despite once or twice losing his player. Most teams try to attack from his side and he does well for most parts. He was very quick onto the ball and did well in one-on-one situations. He just needs to get his decision making right on when to charge and when not because sometimes he does leave a lot of space behind him for opposition players to get through. 7.5

Song: One of the better games from him defensively. Made some vital blocks and was always moving around the field. Never slowed down. Came back to defend a lot and held up the midfield nicely. He did give away possession a few times and was a bit off going forward but made up for it with some good shielding. 6.5

Fabregas: I don’t know how many times I have to say it but our captain is not back to his best yet. Still he was involved in everything happening on the pitch and he got the vital second goal that was brilliantly taken. Contributed a lot in defending and led the team nicely. He was also all over the pitch. Didn’t deserve the yellow IMO. He could have also got an assist had Chamakh not missed a sitter.  7

Wilshere: Did what was asked off him in the time he was on the field. Kept and passed the ball well and was good in covering the defenders. Could have even got a goal in the first half. 6

Nasri: Another great game from him. He really has become one of our consistent performers. He contributes up front, in the middle and defensively. Made a couple of great runs and had some good shots but unlucky not to be on the score sheet. The initial move was started by him that led to our first goal. Kept the possession well and created some good openings with good passing. 7.5

Chamakh: Another good performance from him. Great link up play and some good movement by him. Got the assist on the second goal. Should have scored too. Contributed defensively on set pieces and made some good interceptions by coming back a lot. 6.5

Arshavin: Anonymous for major parts but it was nice to see that he was trying. Showed his brilliance with the assist on the first goal when he calmly picked the ball and passed it to Sagna to score. Had a few shots on goal and was good to see that he was coming back to do his defensive job on some occasions. 6.5

Subs

Denilson: As soon as he came on he got the move going for the second goal. He was good in keeping the ball moving around and shielded the defence nicely. Made some good interceptions. A simple and effective game from him. 7

Rosicky: Another one of our consistent performers this season. Kept the ball moving around and helped Clichy on the left defensively. Showed good work rate and strength while defending. 7

Eboue: Too little time to make impact. No Rating

The weekend has been great for us Gooners as we have moved up to second place and the gap from Chelsea has been reduced to two. I think we have also broken the jinx that Chelsea loses on that day when we also lose our fixture. Next up is the mini international break and if we get passed it without new injuries then certainly great times are coming ahead.

Next up is Spuds at home and just can’t wait for it. But first fingers crossed that no one gets injured during the internationals.

Arsène Wenger has explained his reasons for replacing Jack Wilshere with Denilson at half-time, and the absence of Nicklas Bendtner from the squad in the game against Everton.

Firstly, the manager says he felt the need to bring on the more defensive-minded Denilson in midfield, and has rejected claims of any injury worries for Wilshere.

He revealed: "He [Wilshere] is not injured. I felt I wanted a second holding player to win the second balls from headers and I felt he looked a bit tired today."

The 18-year-old is set for an England call-up in an already busy season, and Wenger admits his youngster might benefit from a rest.

"He has played many games. I wanted to take him off because of that. He will be alright to go with England."

There has been speculation about striker Bendtner's future at the club, and the Dane's absence from today's squad did little to help the rumours.

Wenger, however, insists Bendnter was injured today, and that he wants the 22-year-old to stay at the club.

The Frenchman said: "He had a little groin problem and I left him at home. I don't know [whether he will be part of the Danish national squad]. They can call him up and check his condition. I would prefer him not to go. He would prefer to stay as well.

"I want him to stay, I have known Nicklas since he was 16 years old and I have a good rapport and good communication with him. I like him as a player and as a person. I want him to stay and be part of the group.

Cesc Fabregas told Sky Sports News:

“The second goal was an important goal early in the second half. We knew they would push hard at us and at the end they scored and we were a bit nervous. It was a good performance. Defensively we looked solid, our only regret is that last minute goal. We played very well, we were in control. We knew their game was long ball but we did well against it.”

Fabregas now wants to see the team build on the win as they look to rein in leaders Chelsea.

“We want to do well until the end, this is just one more step until the end. It’s good we’re in second position, we’re improving, We just need Chelsea to drop some points now.”

Arsene Wenger

“The most important qualities we showed were discipline, commitment, honest desire, 100 per cent focus for 90 minutes. That got us the three points – if you come here without that you don’t get the three points. We’ve had two difficult away games, Wolves and here, but we have got six points and that puts us in a good situation. The team has shown great spirit. We could have scored more but we were nearly punished and we needed a few good saves from the keeper because we became a bit too conservative. We were hanging on a bit at the end but overall I am satisfied with 2-1.”

Despite his team’s strong position, Wenger was not willing to look at the title picture.

“Let’s get points into our account and see where we stand at the end.”

Wenger allayed fears midfielder Jack Wilshere, who is due to join up with England this week, was removed at the interval because of injury.

“He is not injured. I wanted a second holding player to win the second balls from the headers and I thought he looked a bit tired today.”
