Reported Chelsea target Guus Hiddink has admitted he misses the day-to-day nature of club management, but is refusing to be drawn on talk linking him with a return to the Blues.Veteran coach Hiddink, who had a successful five-month stint in charge of the Blues two years ago, has been acting as an advisor to owner and friend Roman Abramovich ever since, while also coaching the Turkish national side.

He was installed as one of the favourites to replace Carlo Ancelotti following the Italian's sacking on Sunday but, while he says he misses the club environment, is not focussing on anything other than Turkey's upcoming clash with Belgium.

"I have in my career very few games. I want to do more with the players on a daily basis but that is impossible because I am national team manager," he told TV show %100 Futbol.

"But I am not going into the speculation as I have to prepare the team and to make sure that no one can blame me afterwards saying I was concentrating on other things.

"I am not going into speculation, I am fully concentrated. I demand full commitment from myself so I will not go into speculation."

Carlo Ancelotti is set to be offered a new job in the Premier League barely days after being fired by Chelsea, according to Thursday's papers.The Daily Mirror reports that the Italian is set to be offered the hot seat at newly-promoted QPR, with the axe set to fall on Neil Warnock after his chief ally in Loftus Road hierarchy lost a key boardroom battle.

QPR vice-chairman Amit Bhatia apparently walked out of a board meeting on Wednesday after his bid to buy the club outright was rejected, a move which the paper claims, "left Warnock exposed despite his superb achievement in steering the Rs from the foot of the Championship to Premier League status in the space of 15 months."

Ancelotti originally had a contract clause at Chelsea prohibiting him from working for another Premier League side within 12 months of leaving Stamford Bridge.

But that clause was removed as part of his severance package, clearing the way for Flavio Briatore to offer his compatriot the chance to stay in the Premier League.

And speaking of west London clubs, Jose Mourinho has ruled out a return to the manager's job at Chelsea, according to The Sun.

The paper quotes a "pal" of the Portuguese coach saying that while Mourinho would "love to go back", he feels that "they're still making the same old mistakes" at Stamford Bridge following the dismissal of Ancelotti.

"There are too many different factions around Roman Abramovich, as poor Ancelotti found out," the pal continued.

Despite their managerless state, the Daily Mail reports that Chelsea are close to tying up mega-money deals for "two of Belgium's hottest properties", which in defiance of all your natural instincts turns out to translate as "actually pretty hot". The Daily Mirror reports that Genk's 19-year-old attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is set to move to Stamford Bridge for £12 million, while Anderlecht's barely-turned-18 striker Romelu Lukaku will fetch an eye-watering £22m.

Let's hope the move goes through, if only to give us an excuse to use Lukaku's nickname on a regular basis: the 6'4" Belgium international is apparently known as "Big Daft" to one and all.

Speaking of big, daft things, It's bad news for fans of the Angel of the North: the giant sculpture is set to lose its status as the north east's tallest humanoid structure after it emerged that Peter Crouch could be on his way to Sunderland. Steve Bruce is apparently keen on the Tottenham hit man, though Spurs will apparently play hardball over the fee as they try to recoup their £10m layout on him two years ago.

The Lord giveth and taketh away for Birmingham fans this morning: Barry Ferguson has boosted the Blues hopes of bouncing back by confirming that he will stay at St Andrews next year, but the vultures are circling for defender Roger Johnson, with Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp and Wolves manager Mick McCarthy both reportedly trying to secure his services according to the Mirror and Mail respectively.

After the revelations that Newcastle will not offer midfielder Joey Barton a new contract, now it seems he may not even see out the final year of his deal. The Daily Mail reports that the Toon have told the volatile star they'll happily offload him for as little as £1m.

Whether another club will take up the footballing equivalent of a suspiciously-cheap second-hand car remains to be seen. Particularly when you consider that money doesn't seem to be an issue, as several papers report that Newcastle won't budge on their £15m valuation of Jose Enrique.

Elsewhere, Manchester City are apparently close to a cash-plus-Nedum Onuoha deal for Bolton's £20m-rated defender Gary Cahill (Daily Mirror), City are running out of patience in their attempts to sign Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez for £35m (Daily Star) and Stoke are looking to plunder the relegated sides with moves for Birmingham's Cameron Jerome and Blackpool's David Vaughan (Daily Mail).

And finally, Patrice Evra is trying to talk Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri into joining him at Manchester United in today's papers, using some wonderful Cantona-esque language as he did so.

"Little prince, if you want to become king you know where you should go," Evra apparently said. "Every year at Manchester is a guarantee of a title. I have been here five years and cannot keep count of the trophies I've won - 12? 13? 15?"

It's actually eight, Patrice, unless you count three Community Shields and a Club World Cup. And if you're counting them then you might as well chuck in your '50m with armbands' swimming badge as well.
