A double from Fernando Torres and a superlative volley from Raul Meireles secured what has of late been a rare win on the road for Liverpool.

A performance which combined grit and flair will have delighted supporters, who watched their side complete upwards of 30 passes before Torres's second strike.

Dalglish reflected: "It may have been comprehensive in the end but it was only because of the hard work, determination and effort we put in throughout the game.

"Wolves have been in a good run of form. They've played really well. They've beaten Chelsea here so for us to come along and play like that and come away with three goals and none against is a fantastic effort from the players.

"If you don't compete at Molineux you aren't going to come away with anything other than a defeat. The players competed really well and showed they've got a lot of pride in this football club."

Asked if relief was his prevalent emotion, Dalglish replied: "At the moment the feeling is more elation because we've won 3-0 and everyone's happy - the fans, the players. We got the result because we worked as a team. I don't know if there's any relief."

The brace means Torres is now Liverpool's top scorer for the season with a tally of nine - one ahead of both Steven Gerrard and David Ngog.

Dalglish added: "It's the best (Torres display) since I've come in. It wasn't just the goals, it was the workrate he put in. It really helped us.

"It sounds a bit strange, but the way he ran down the goalkeeper - the goalkeeper kicks it all the way down the pitch and that's a great asset for them, and he nullified it.

"He showed that he wanted to do something and he did it."

Dalglish was also full of praise for Meireles, who followed up his first club strike against Everton last week with a belter from outside the box versus Mick McCarthy's men.

"He played well last week against Everton as well, and he scored in that game too so he's going for the Golden Boot now I think!" said the boss.

"He's a good footballer and coming into the Premiership is difficult, picking up the pace, but he's getting there. The fact he missed pre-season training with the club isn't doing him any favours either. But we're delighted - not just with his play but his attitude and commitment.

"It was also great for Christian Poulsen to come in and play and be a solid part of us until about the hour mark because he started to tire a little bit - he hasn't had a lot of games.

"He was important for us today in nullifying what they had."

Reporters probed the Liverpool manager on links with Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam.

While Dalglish remained tight-lipped on any potential interest, he insisted there was money to spend.

"We've had very amicable conversations with the owners, who are very supportive," he said. "Yes, we can bring players in if we find them.

"The most important thing for us is that we bring players in who are going to improve us. We have to do it responsibly.

"We are on the look-out to bring someone in if they are better than what we've got. If they are not, we'll go with what we've got.

"We're not going to sit here and comment on individual players at any other club. We'd prefer to tell you when we've got something to tell you.

"We can bring players in if we want and it's not dependent on people going out either.

"If we need something, the money is there."
